Thank you for the request for a review. The venue is well planned and our stay was very pleasant. The directions was unclear and the venue not well marked. I would suggest a clear signboard. It is difficult to find the venue after dark.

Cabin 16: Overall we enjoyed our stay here with the lovely pool, good views and peaceful. The caretakers were helpful. However, there are some things that need to be addressed which we would have expected for the price we paid.
a) As there is no a/c there should be fans in all rooms – it was unbearably hot in bed.
b) There was only one plastic sunlounger for a cabin this size – I am not sure where I was supposed to lie in the sun when my wife was on the lounger! The caretakers brought us 2 very old ones the next day but this is not good enough. Cushions for them should also be available.
c) By the nature of the build all in wood it is impossible to walk about quietly because of the creaking floors. I get up early and my wife does not – no matter how I tried it was impossible not to be noisy – I am not sure how it could work if all bedrooms had people in them.
I would not rate this as 4 star. We would probably go elsewhere if we return to Knysna. We felt we overpaid for what we got really although we did enjoy our stay all-in-all.

In response I would like to add:
1. There are fans in the rooms. They are situated in the cupboards. We have never believed air-conditioning to be necessary as it is only during unusually warm conditions that the cabins become too hot. Air-conditioning would not be in keeping with the “cabin in the forest” feeling that we promote.
2. Unfortunately a previous guest broke one of the sun loungers and our caretaker did not have a chance to replace it before your arrival. We did try our best to accommodate you as soon as we realised this omission by borrowing sun loungers from another cabin.
3. The cabins are constructed out of timber and there is no way to sound proof a building of this nature.
4. The rates of our cabins are very much in line with other 4 star establishments, if not markedly lower.
We are graded by an assessor from the Tourism Grading Council and received our 4 star grading without any additions or alterations having to be made.
I’m just really sorry you feel the way you do. From the clients that stayed before and after you I have only had wonderful reviews.
