Brakdakkie Guest Cottages

Description

The Brakdakkie Guest Cottages were built in 1850 and, once the barns of the original farm, the rooms have been restored with great attention to detail and passion for the Karoo, preserving its original splendour. Filled with treasures from years gone by, Brakdakkie offers an authentic Karoo experience.

Both cottages boast spectacular Karoo views, luxurious linen, private entrances courtyards, and self-catering facilities. Brakdakkie is situated on the original farm Sonskyn, where today you can relax in a rural setting while still being centrally located within walking distance of all shops and restaurants. Each cottage has its own unique flavour, and we take great delight in sharing our passion for Karoo décor and design with our guests.

Each cottage features an en-suite bathroom, one with a shower and the other with a Victorian bath. Or for something completely different, our tree shower offers a unique experience - especially by candlelight. Enjoy a good night's rest on crisp white cotton-percale linen, with heaters, blankets, and hot water bottles for the chilly winter evenings and fans for the hot summer nights. Barbecue facilities are available for both cottages and braai baskets are available as an optional extra. Each kitchenette has self-catering facilities with fridge, kettle, and toaster, while tea, coffee, milk and homemade rusks are also supplied.

Features include an art garden, secure off-street parking, and a breakfast basket consisting of muesli, yoghurt, fruit, cheese, jam, and bread as an optional extra. Lance and Kerrigan invite you to share their passion of the Karoo in their uniquely restored 1850 Karoo barn.

We loved Brakdakkie and Prince Albert. A wonderful cottage, beautifully decorated, clean and homely. Kerri was welcoming and very helpful. First of many visits to the Karoo.
Should have stayed longer
Riaan Joubert, South Africa

A great place to stay. Perfectly appointed room, friendly people and a collection of bric-brac that made us salivate. Proof that the old is perfectly new with the right arrangement. Reflects the nature of Prince Albert - history with a lot to offer the traveller. Warrants more than an overnight stay, I'd say three days at least.
