Bontle Camping Area Marakele National Park SANParks

Thank you very much to the Marakele staff for your friendly reception and a wonderful stay at the camp site. This National Park is truly one of the most beautiful parks in our country. The highlight of our stay was the sighting of two six month old leopard cubs in the middle of the road to Lenong. We are looking forward to our next stay at Marekele.

We really did enjoy staying in the camp although we did not see any of the BIG 5 in the second park, only rhino in the campsite side. I do however want to recommend that a cleaning lady is on duty in the ablution blocks during bath time in the morning and afternoons as the campers tend not to clean after themselves and on a few occasions I had to clean the shower before I could shower myself. I would also suggest that you put rubber shower mats on the floors in the showers as the one shower did not have a shower curtain and I had to use my towel to dry the floor after I showered. This ablution block was in the heavy treed area. Other than this, it was a relaxing stay with friendly staff in attendance.
