Boer & Brit Self-catering

Ladysmith is a very convenient overnight stop between the Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and the north and the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal. The town is tucked away among hills and the Drakensberg provides a beautiful backdrop in the distance.

We have eight well-equipped en-suite bedrooms with kitchenettes and DStv. There is one Family Cottage which can sleep five guests, with a spacious lounge area and an open-plan kitchen. There is one enclosed braai, as well as outside braai areas and secure parking.

Guests can visit the Historic Anglo Boer War Museum, monuments and battle sites in and around the town. Day tours to these historic sites are by arrangement. Ladysmith was named after the Spanish wife of Sir Harry Smith, Lady Juana Maria de los Dolores de Leon Smith. I named my establishment, Boer & Brit, from the time when the town was under siege by the Boer forces. My emblem depicts General Sir George White VC in command of the British forces in Ladysmith and General Louis Botha in command of the Boers.
