Description

Surrounded by the tranquil Blyde River and the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, this thatched lodge is set in a private reserve, in an area famous for its panoramic scenery, birdlife, fauna, and flora.

Nestled on the banks of the Blyde River, places of water are places of life. Not only are the water courses of the Blyde River Wilderness Lodge well-populated with hippo and crocodiles, the reserve is also home to giraffe, nyala, impala, wildebeest, zebra, bushbuck, duiker, steenbuck, waterbuck, bushpig, and warthog.

Accommodation comprises of six luxury double or twin bed and breakfast rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and tea and coffee tray. There is one large self-catering rondavel with an en-suite bathroom which can sleep up to eight guests, and the self-catering King Fisher Cottage sleeps up to four guests.

All rooms are tastefully furnished, and each room leads out onto the tranquil river settings where crocodiles and hippos cruise by.

Self-catering guests are welcome to book breakfast and dinners with us to.

Romantic room with great service

The room is big, clean and has a private balcony facing the river. The environment is great with animals around the cottage. The staff are great, as well as the food. Room did not have a heater, but once we asked, heating was provided. It's really great. Highly recommend.

What an amazing place. The rooms looked lovely when we arrived. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help you. Had a lovely evening around the fire listening to hippos. Wished we could have stayed longer! Will definitely go back.

The four nights we spent at the Blyde River Wilderness Lodge were perfect! We were two families and we had the big rondavel and one of the smaller cottages for the week. The accommodation was great value for money. Super clean, cosy, comfortable beds with nice bedding with enough warm, snuggly blankets, tastefully decorated etc. The kitchens were well equipped and the best of all was the enormous fireplace and barbecue facilities outside - well stocked with wood every night.
