Description

Hide away for the weekend in quaint little Dullstroom where folks know how to treat winter with respect and many log fires burning in snug interiors. Blue Crane House, which sleeps six people, offers a homey atmosphere with three bedrooms, a fireplace and a large garden. The house’s stoep is wide and spacious with a newly built-in modern braai. It has also been fitted with canvas, which can be lowered if the mist starts crawling in.

It also has a second guest bathroom. Both bathrooms have been fitted with bathroom heaters. The open plan living area has a fireplace, large eight-seater dining room table, DVD player and television with full DStv bouquet. The kitchen is a bit better-equipped utensil wise for the cook who never gets the time to create something beautiful as a hearty stew.

Bedroom one has a queen-size bed with en-suite bathroom. Electric blankets and goose down duvet and extra blanket, one closet, extra heater and a beautiful view at the back. Bedroom two has two three-quarter beds, electric blankets and goose down duvets with extra blankets, three closets, and extra heater. Bedroom three has two single beds with electric blanket and extra blankets. This room is smaller but large enough for a good night’s rest - ideal for the kids and is equipped with extra heater.

Garden has ample space to explore. We are trying to introduce indigenous species to the garden, but the roses bursting in bloom bring a special splash of colour in the sometimes-drab wintery landscape.

We had so much fun, the place has a real homely and cosy feel to it, especially with the furnace burning! Will definitely return in the winter, just to light the furnace again, and close the porch and light the fire there.

While people in the rest of SA were sweating with the terrible heat, we were having a wonderful cosy stay. Not to mention the nice apricots and plum trees in the garden we could enjoy ... when I read a previous remark on the internet, I was quite concerned about the house, but we can honestly say, we had a terrific time.
