Description

Barefoot Backpackers Cabins is situated in a quiet country setting just a short train ride from OR Tambo International Airport. Relax the days away while you adjust to African time and get past your long-haul flight. Barefoot Backpackers Cabins is an ideal base when touring Southern Africa, and the property has a working produce garden with plenty of indigenous plants and birds.

Accommodation is provided in a pine wood cabin and a rondavel with a high thatched roof and a loft. Both are situated in a private location on the two-acre property, offering as much privacy as you need. The bathroom is shared and features a sink, toilet and a shower. Guests also have access to the swimming pool and the large poolside lapa.

We are situated in a very quiet and safe neighbourhood, with excellent security. You can literally walk to the high-speed rail in just 15 minutes and be off to the nightlife in Rosebank or Sandton, or travel quickly to the airport. It is also just 20 minutes to Pretoria and plenty of other places in Johannesburg can also be easily accessed. The Tembisa township can be visited for traditional experiences and we can also provide a shuttle service to local shopping malls and restaurants.

Location: Close to Gallagher Estate and many other import business centers in Gauteng.

Family: We have a marvelous swimming pool and a small play area with slides, a zip line, a sand box, swings and climbing apparatus.

Honeymoon Romance: A nice place for a newly wed couple to come enjoy themselves on a reasonable budget.

Relaxation: Insanely quiet. Just the place to come read a book in peace and quiet, but still within reach of nightlife and the comforts of modern living.

Working Holidays: We have a small farm and agricultural area.

This traditional thatched roof African hut is tucked away in a private corner of the property, nestled amongst indigenous trees and a bamboo patch. The rondavel features five single beds, a small fridge and a cooking area with the basics. The loft features a few chairs and a small couch, and just off the patio is a small outdoor cooking area.

A beautiful spot to spend some precious time in immersed in nature. An awesome little house 2 meters high in the branches of two large Oak trees, lots of windows looking out over the vegetable garden. In the evenings you can enjoy sundowners on the porch and listen to the birds roosting nearby for the night. The treehouse is 3 meters wide and 3.5 meters long, a beautiful grass thatch-roof and light pine walls. Definitely a very unique place to spend valuable time. The shade from the tree canopy keeps it naturally cool during the hot summer days. Climb down the steps and walk out to your own private braai area, or take a short walk to the pool for a swim. You have to see it to believe it.

It is a good initiative and we had a good stay. Maybe one tip is to make the place a bit more presentable. Maybe a nice paint and bedding.

Barefoot backpackers was amazing, being in joburg but feel the freshness and waking up with birds singing around you. The hosts are amazing, friendly and always happy to help with anything. I really enjoyed my stay at barefoot backpackers.

What a place, I had a wonderful stay at Barefoot. A peaceful place where you can communicate with your inner man without any disturbances - only the sound of birds. I enjoyed the place and will hopefully be a regular visitor.
