Baleia Bay Lodge

Description

Baleia Bay Lodge is a fully equipped self-catering holiday home with beautiful sea views situated in Inhambane, Mozambique. The lodge offers accommodation in four bedrooms, two of which feature a double and a single bed and an en-suite bathroom, while the two other rooms have three single beds in each and share a bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and forms part of the deck, with amazing sea views.

Inhambane is dominated by thousands of coconut palms - you’re really in the tropics now. This long stretch of coastline is by far the most developed in Mozambique as far as tourism is concerned. Apart from the beautiful historical town of Inhambane, the main attraction to this area are the idyllic beaches of Jangamo, Tofo, Tofinho and Barra, where the sea-lover can take part in a variety of marine activities.

It is a great area for snorkelling, fishing and surfing, and there are also many good diving reefs in the area including the aptly named Manta Reef and Praia de Rocha, where the rock and coral has formed a spectacular landscape of pinnacles, gullies, and overhangs.

We had a most delightful stay at Baleia Bay Lodge and Armando, our host, was just great.
Ideal winter holiday

We stayed at Baleia for 8 days during June 2010. We had one rainy and cool day...had to wear jackets...but afterwards the weather turned fine and we enjoyed every minute...not too hot and not cold at all. The lodge is cute with an island feel. We had a problem with the shower in room one but learned how to work it eventually. The locals around us brought a supply of bread and fruit daily. The guy and his assistant, Pedro, who looked after us at Baleia were very competent and so was the ... more
Pleasurable

We enjoyed a pleasurable stay. The kitchen and braai areas are well stocked and a lot of our time was spent here, around the crackling charcoal fire! Also, the view from the deck over the palm trees toward the bay is spectacular. The bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms offer all you need for your stay. The road to the lodge is very sandy, with the last incline nearly impossible to master with anything less than a 4x4, which I suggest you have if you're planning on staying here, as you need ... more
