Description
Areia Branca Lodge is situated on a pristine beach with the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. It is 485 km north of Maputo and access is on tarred roads until the last 7 km leading to the lodge, which is gravel.
We have 17 Chalets that are fully equipped with the necessary equipment. Each Chalet has two bedrooms; the one bedroom had a double bed, the second bedroom has twin beds and there are twin beds in the lounge. The bathroom has a shower and there is an open-plan kitchen and living area. Electricity is supplied 24 hours by EDM with a backup generator. The units are not serviced but cleaners can be hired at the lodge. We also have 15 Campsites that all have power points and ablution facilities.
Areia Branca is a secluded, unspoilt beach bordered by the Inhambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other. The warm waters offer safe bathing and smooth and easy boat launching. Fishing grounds and diving reefs are nearby and the largely unexplored reefs offer endless pleasures for divers and snorkelers. The lodge is nestled amongst the coconut groves and has a wonderful beach.
There are many actives to be enjoyed within the area such as scuba diving, catamaran yacht charter, boat fishing and sightseeing the Inhambane is steeped in history. This was the southerly most trading port in Africa used by the Arabs. Go horse riding where you can take a guided horse ride on the beach offering a once in a lifetime experience. Quad bike through the coconut plantations which opens new vistas and following the tracks and paths through these areas allows one to experience the real Mozambique. Take a trip on a dhow and feel a great sense of history as the dhows are still built as they were in ancient times. This is something that must be experienced before this age old tradition dies out.
