Melkbosstrand is also popular for angling, windsurfing and kite flying. Across the R27 (popularly referred to as the West Coast Road) lies a challenging 4x4 track and air landing strip for fly-ins.
The town offers + 3,368 privately owned homes. The business centre comprises of a small shopping centre with commercial shops and throughout the town you will discover little gems of restaurants, sea food lapas, and country club with sports facilities and a few guest houses. There are also a few entrepreneurs working from home making jewellery for export market en leather clothing for seasoned bikers. There are no hotels, cinemas or night clubs in our town.
The Atlantic Beach Golf Estate has added value to the town with the 24 hour security development of 18 hole golf course, club house and conference centre and 1,200 homes situated amongst fynbos and natural habitat with stunning views of Table Mountain and on a clear day you can even see Robben Island.
The famous Battle of Blaauwberg was fought here in 1906 when Brittan invaded the Cape with three Scottish regiments. They took the locals by surprise and annexed the Cape. Some remnants from the war are still noticeable.
