About Amadudu Guest House

At the foothills of the beautiful Platberg Mountain in Harrismith, the Jewel of the Free State lies the realization of a shared dream - Amadudu Guesthouse. Established by a mother and daughter team, we strive to provide South-African hospitality and service. Your comfort is our pride.

Historical Harrismith, with its gracious old buildings well known for its beautiful gardens and rich history, is surrounded by Boer war battlefields like Spionkop, historical Voortrekker sites like Retiefklip, the Drakensberg Mountains and Golden Gate National Park.

It is very centrally situated halfway between Durban and Johannesburg on the N3 highway and is also included on the newly created 'Grasslands Meander'. An airfield is situated right next to town.

Our elegant rustic rooms offer luxurious linen, TV, full breakfast included, dinner available on request, coffee and tea making facilities, old beverage and snack bar, amenities like hairdryers and alarm clocks, electric blankets and Internet facilities.

We also offer very high security fully walled and electric gates, alarm and armed response as well as motion detection lasers on exterior and secure parking.

I am sorry to say that we were not happy. On arrival at the guesthouse there was no no-one to book as in. The electric gate did not work, we were told to push it open manually but the gate was stuck and could not open. The room was ok but the shower door could not close proper, the result- a wet slippery floor when you get out of the shower. There were coffee and tea in the room, but no cups to drink from and no sugar. The lady that booked us in, left soon after, so there was no one we could ask for cups etc. Won't stay there again, sorry.
