About Akademie Street Guest Houses
Akademie Street Guest Houses offers 5 Star accommodation in five unique buildings, all situated on the same beautiful property in a quiet area of the Franschhoek village in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
There are four sun-kissed swimming pools and shady, gardens where one can lie in privacy and listen to the splashing of the fountains, the song of the cicadas, the cooing of the Cape Doves - sounds so evocative of the Cape Winelands.
This is coupled with the personal service that only a very small, family owned and managed, guest house can give. From this retreat one can stroll to the village centre and its famous restaurants. Historic wine farms, great golf courses, hiking, fly-fishing, and riding are all close by.
Gelatenheid/Equanimity is our largest guest house - a double storey just for two. The en-suite loft bedroom with king-size bed, dressing and living room area opens onto an upstairs verandah with special views over the mountains and vineyards. There is also a romantic bath under the trees with a heated towel rail. Downstairs there is a kitchen and a dining area overlooking a large pool and private garden.
Oortuiging/Conviction is our 1860’s luxury cottage nestled under a giant white stinkwood tree. It has two en-suite bedrooms, a lounge, a kitchen and a dining room. It has its own pool and private shade and sun gardens. Oortuiging can sleep three but takes two in spacious luxury.
Vreugde/Joy sleeps two in a king-size bed or, if previously requested, in twin three-quarter beds. The bath and shower are separate, there is a small kitchenette, and French doors open onto a wide verandah with beautiful garden and private pool. One can lounge on the leather sofa on the porch listening to the birds and the singing of the fountain. This is a very intimate, private place.
Uitsig/View sleeps two in a king-size bed or, if previously requested, in twin three-quarter beds. The bath and shower are separate, and French doors open onto a sun-baked balcony with a lovely view of the mountains. This private, upstairs suite is wonderfully comfortable. Uitsig shares a large heated pool and garden with Twyfeling.
Twyfeling/Doubting is a gracious Cape Dutch style house with large living rooms and two large bedroom suites, both of which sleep two in a king-size bed or, if previously requested, in twin three-quarter beds. Twyfeling shares a large heated pool and garden with Uitsig.
All our prices include VAT, Franschhoek Tourism levy, generous breakfasts, welcoming bottle of Champagne, free drinks, telephone, Internet, and laundry.
