A bit about this place

We pride ourselves in providing you with a self – catering cottage that virtually puts you at the centre of most places of interest within Cape Town at close proximity to all the facilities for modern city living, yet quiet and tranquil in a safe environment. ‘A riverside cottage’ is quite accessible. From its location, it is virtually 4 minutes walk from two train stations, both served by train lines from central Cape Town en route to the southern attractions of The cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, The Mountains, several Museums and beaches, and Boulders Beach nature Reserve where one encounters the Penguins of the South Atlantic sea. The cottage is easily accessible via the N1, N2, M3 and M5 Motor ways for anyone traveling from the city or Cape Town International Airport, or anywhere north of the city. With a maximum capacity for six individuals, ‘A Riverside Cottage’ was purpose built with the small group of holiday – makers (i.e. young families, touring groups, etc.) in mind. A security enabled gate and separate garage lead into a covered hallway that opens into a square – paved, mini garden with a mature Bay tree at its center. A short walk across this garden leads into a North – facing entrance to the cottage, which is surrounded by a paved walk - way bordered by a bed of flowers and shrubs. Both the living and dining rooms share a large double door that opens up onto a couple of steps leading into a private mini courtyard with garden furniture and Braai (Barbeque) equipment. A separate gate leads to the swimming pool a large, mature, tree - lined garden and a large veranda with Table Tennis equipment and seating within the grounds of the manor house, all furnished to the holiday maker’s delight. The garden consists of a central fountain surrounded by a large grassy lawn bordered with by a plethora of flowering plants, shrubs and trees, all native to the Western Cape Province. A number of terracotta – paved Walkways meander through the fauna, leading to a front gate as well as the cottage. Naturally, this garden is a haven for wildlife, with a constant stream of a variety of birds through out the day, and a large family of squirrels in residence. Please refer to photos. 24 - hour security is provided in four different, but non-intrusive ways simultaneously for your complete safety and reassurance. ‘A Riverside Cottage’ is virtually 7 minutes walk from a variety of amenities that include 2 large supermarkets, restaurants, major banks, cafes, pubs/bars, internet cafes, hairdressers, an antique furniture stores, art galleries, a large pool hall, a community library and a post office. A 10 minute’s drive away are three of Cape Town’s largest shopping malls, the Blue Route, Cavendish Square and Constantia Village, all easily accessible in 3 different directions from the Cottage. Close by are 2 Virgin Active gyms and a bowling alley in one of the shopping malls and the world famous Baxter Theatre. Nearby attractions include: Hout bay beach, one of the many beaches in the Southern suburbs. Groot Constantia wine estate and Constantia Wine Route. Westlake & Steenberg Golf Courses.
