Facilities

Oudtshoorn lies between the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains and is well-known for its great number of ostriches. They are but one of many attractions in the area; the surroundings also offers exceptional contrasts and natural beauty, and is home to the spectacular Cango Caves, Africa's largest show cave system. In addition, the Swartberg mountain range forms part of the Cape Floral World Heritage Site, which is a must-see for visitors.

33 Degrees South offers two self-catering cottages, Earls Cottage and Lavender Lane, each featuring a fully equipped kitchen and outside braai area. The cottages are separate from the main house and each unit has their own private entrance, fans and heaters, and a TV with DStv. Internet can be arranged on request. Guests can enjoy leisure reading around the pool or on the veranda of the cottage.

Visitors are encouraged to indulge in the many activities the area has to offer, such as hiking, motorbike trails, visiting the Cango Caves and the ostrich farms, as well as the Cango Wildlife Ranch.

We arrived with heavy rain and all was wet and soggy. The reception however was warm and hearty. Our car was not really made for the roads and add the pouring rain. Carolyn made sure we got to a restaurant close by so we can have a warm meal and went out of her way to make us feel welcome, and this she managed very very well. Thanks again as the hospitality will be for ever remembered.
