Fish Hoek

Description

Fish Hoek is one of the peninsula's best places for whale watching and also one of the most popular family beaches offering restaurants, easy parking, changing rooms, showers and lifeguards.

Most beach goers utilize this beach for swimming, surfing, kayaking, hobie cat sailing, sunbathing and walking. Sometimes the traditional 'trek' fishing boats can be seen hauling in their catch of yellowtail or harders.

Southern Right whales arrive in early August and stay until the end of November. A great spot to watch them is along Jager’s Walk, a scenic catwalk that starts at the beach restaurant and follows the rocky coastline all the way to Sunny Cove.

Landlubbers can lace up their hiking boots and explore Peers Cave, the place where ‘Fish Hoek Man’ and Stone Age tools were found. Here the views sweep across the valley and both sides of the peninsula. The summit of Elsie’s Peak is another great hiking option through pretty mountain fynbos with spectacular views.

Fish Hoek is a small village on the False Bay coast with a lovely family beach, which is ideal for swimming and taking a stroll. There are good restaurants nearby, and compared with the Atlantic Seaboard, accommodation is less expensive but excellent.
Fabulous for families and doesn't cost a fortune!

Fish hoek is an ideal place for a laid back holiday. The beach is super for lazing or walking and child friendly too. The shops are convenient, the restaurants good value and almost everything is within walking distance. Lovely views of the sea and mountains. It is not "trendy" but provides holiday ambience and good quality accommodation at an affordable rate.

Fish Hoek has a beautiful beach, Jaegers Walk along side the bay and a restaurant with outdoor tables and an ice cream counter right on the beach. We enjoyed watching the various beach activities. It is an easy drive from Fish Hoek to Boulders Beach penguin colony, Cape Point, Chapmans Peak and Simons Town and Kalk Bay.
