Well worth the trip from Cape Town, especially if you surf, windsurf or like seafood.

I believe Elands Bay will become a sought-after destination in the near future. It is a great place for surfing, kitesurfing, birdwatching and the weather is very good.

Elands Bay is a great place if you enjoy water sport activities such as surfing or kitesurfing. There are some enjoyable hikes around the coastline and into the mountains surrounding Elands Bay. It does lack charm though and is by no means a "friendly" West Coast town. The rugged beauty of the coastline and beach is very appealing and makes up for the lack of culture and poor architecture on display.

Every gnarly silver surfer or grommet in the Western Cape knows this spot for the epic left-hand break. You’ll have to get up at dawn or skip work to escape the crowds though. Save some energy for catching a few kreef to slap on the braai for supper. No waves? Go for a paddle and check out amazing waterbirds on Verlorenvlei.
