Chamilandu Bushcamp is a beautiful camp on one of the South Luangwa’s prime river locations. It is perfect for a bird's-eye view of the wildlife that the river and its lagoons attract. You don’t need to leave your bed to see the wildlife, as from your unique vantage point you can watch as animals roam across the landscape, or swing through the trees above your head.

There are three Stilted Chalets at this exclusive camp which is set on the riverbank beneath a soaring ebony grove. Each has its own raised verandah to loll on during the heat of the day, and an open-fronted en-suite bathroom with the same views over the tranquil waters. Two of the chalets have queen-size beds and one has a king-size bed. With capacity for just six guests, this is the ideal camp for small groups.

Enjoy a sundowner from the comfort of the thatched bar and dining area as you watch the wildlife do the same at the river. Exceptional game viewing and understated elegance make Chamilandu Bushcamp a place to remember.

There are walking safaris and game drives to explore the impressive range of habitats in the area. With no fewer than seven oxbow lagoons behind the camp, there are always thirsty animals around seeking refreshment. Our hide looks out over one of these lagoons and is the perfect place to take lunch, tea or to while away an afternoon in a hammock to the soundtrack of bathing elephant.

Zungulila Bushcamp is ideal for small, private groups and it delivers an authentic walking safari experience. It is a charming camp that embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era, with beautiful views onto the Kapamba River and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game. Zungulila Bushcamp is eminently peaceful and available for private parties of four guests or more.

Up to eight guests can enjoy the serenity of Zungulila in four spacious tents. Built under thatch roofs, each shaded tent has its own private bamboo verandah with views over an impressive variety of wildlife. With stylish interiors, en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, outdoor showers and sunken plunge pools, you can enjoy the luxury. Two of the tents have queen-size beds while the other two have king-size beds.

Our expert guides will lead you on foot through some of the park’s most untouched wilderness, where large herds of buffalo roam the grassy plains and thirsty elephants come to drink at the springs and along the river. With limited roads in the area, activities are focused around walking, but to get even further afield, day and night game drives are also on offer. In the evening after wading through the river, we invite you to join your hosts for sundowners or sit around the campfire for a drink before recounting the day’s adventures over a starlit dinner.

Nsolo Bush Camp is situated on a bend in the Luwi River that runs through the heart of Zambia's south Luangwa National Park, a three hours' walk from Luwi Bushcamp. We are open from 20 May - 31 October.

Accommodation in this luxury safari camp consists of four individually designed Chalets, each on raised wooden decks with high thatched roofs and private verandahs. The rooms are very spacious with stylish furnishings. As with most of our bush camps, the bathrooms have no roofs and are set under the shade of the trees above.

At Nsolo, you don't usually have to search hard for your African safari experience. The wildlife frequents a waterhole in the dry riverbed in front of the camp and very often your most exciting game viewing is from the comfort of your own deck or from the central chitenje that houses the bar and small camp library. There is only a limited network of roads in this are and as a result, most of the game viewing activities are centred on walking safaris, although short night drives are usually offered as well.

The Luwi River system is renowned for its lion population. Various pride territories overlap in this area and the cats use the dry riverbed as a thoroughfare and a means not only of locating their prey who come to drink, but also of locating their rivals who must be warned away. There are few African experiences more exciting than heading out on a walking safari early in the morning, hearing lions calling through the night, finding fresh tracks and following them. With voices hushed and hearts beating, your mind is suggesting there is a lion behind every bush.

Mchenja Luxury Bush Camp occupies a stunning setting beneath a magnificent grove of beautiful trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. It is just a short morning's walk upstream from Kakuli Bush Camp and is located in an area teaming with wildlife.

Although this camp takes luxury in the bush to a level not previously seen in Zambia, it is a bush camp designed to combine indulgence and comfort, taking it to the next level. The camp comprises five stylishly designed tents, each under its own thatched roof and with a deck overlooking the Luangwa River. The tents have inside baths with outside shower rooms.

There is a small pool alongside the bar within the thatched main chitenje, allowing guests to seek cool refuge after their morning's safari activities. Guests staying at Mchenja can choose whether they want to view their wildlife on foot or from an open game viewing vehicle. The game viewing in this area is superb and night drives are usually worthwhile. In addition to the ebony grove at the camp, there are two other stunning groves close by.

Nsefu Camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River, just 12 km north of Tena Tena. Nsefu was the first game camp in Zambia and dates back to the early fifties. The Nsefu Sector was recognised then as a phenomenal area and it still is. The camp can accommodate up to 12 guests in traditional rondavels with en-suite semi-open air bathrooms, while the view of the river is superb and includes a terraced area where game grazes during the day.

The bar, tucked in beside a huge dormant termite mound, overlooks a waterhole that is very productive for game, especially leopard at night. The original rondavels have been extended, with a spacious bathroom added, and each room has a clear view of the river through large windows and from the new wooden verandah.

Our main bar and restaurant caters for all tastes and is conveniently located in the centre of our camp.

Luwi Bush Camp is a seasonal bush camp that is open from 20 May to 31 October. It is nestled under huge mahogany trees on the banks of a permanent lagoon. It is situated deep in the heart of the national park and is one of the only Luangwa safari camps to be positioned well away from the permanent waters and rich vegetation of the main river.

Due to its remote location there are not many roads in the area so activities are centred on walking safaris. This fact makes Luwi Bush Camp one of the most enthralling camps in Zambia. The wildlife in the area is prolific and to track it each day on foot is a memory that will last a lifetime. Luwi was one of the South Luangwa National Park's first remote safari camps. Norman Carr sited the camp back in the 1980's and today this camp offers guests a true walking safari and a taste of the traditional African bush experience.

Accommodation is in four huts that are made of grass and thatch with polished mud floors. Each room is designed differently utilizing trees and natural vegetation wherever possible. The design of these rooms lends the camp a rustic appeal and provides a truly African bush experience. A small thatch provides shade over the bar area and daytime meals are served in the shade of the trees whilst dinner is taken under the stars accompanied by the many sounds of the Zambian night.

There is a large lagoon adjacent to the camp that teams with hippo and crocodile. This permanent water source attracts wildlife from far and wide. With the emphasis on the use of natural materials in its construction, this camp is certainly one of the most traditional of all of the Luangwa safari camps. Typically your day will start early, around the camp fire when you will discuss the noises and animals heard through the night. Your morning walking safari is likely to take three to four hours returning you to camp in time for a hearty brunch.

Located 40 km upstream from the main Mfuwe Gate and on the banks of an oxbow lagoon which retains a small amount of water all year, the lodge looks out onto open grassland. By day the plain is frequented by grazing mammals and by night it becomes a hunting ground for lions.

Lion Camp has just nine canvas Thatch Chalets accommodating a maximum of 18 guests. Built on raised wooden platforms, they are linked to each other and the main area by a raised wooden boardwalk. Each chalet has either a four-poster king-size bed or twin beds, and a walk-in mosquito net. They are all en-suite with a shower and toilet, and have private decks overlooking the open plain.

In the absence of fences, game move freely through the lodge grounds. Elephant, hippo, bushbuck and other antelope are regularly seen within the confines of the camp and there are healthy populations of lion, leopard, buffalo and giraffe in the immediate area.
