Pitch-Up S.A. is situated in the garden areas of Anne and Huntly Knowles’ home. The venue is ‘pet friendly’ and offers a variety of overnight or short-term, self-catering accommodation options suitable for backpackers, families and camping.
Situated in Bethulie, southern Free State, this location is ideal for travellers looking for a stop-over between major cities. The accommodation is provided in Guinea Fowl family unit, Khoisan backpackers’ house and an eight stand caravan/camp site.
Guinea Fowl Unit can comfortably sleep four people. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. Pot cooking can be done at a communal outdoor braai area which also has a gas cooker. Basic DStv is available.
Khoisan backpackers’ house offers accommodation in five private bedrooms. Three private bathrooms provided ablution facilities for the house as a whole. The communal kitchen is equipped for self-catering. Pot cooking can be done at a communal outdoor braai area which also has a gas cooker. Basic DStv is available in the communal lounge.
“The Shack” is a small communal building which services the campsite with two ablutions, a kitchen and a relaxation area. The campsite has five vacant sites for tents or small, two-wheeler caravans. There are also three pre-erected sites, each sleeping two people: Two with Safari tents – “Dikop & Plover” and another with a small Caravan – “Meerkat”. Every site has an electrical point and a free-standing braai. There is also a small fire-pit circle, an outdoor wash-up area, one additional toilet and two additional showers.
Attractions within the area include boat trips from Gariep, Gariep Dam wall tour, three nature reserves, Boer War history, longest road/rail bridge in Southern Africa, fishing at local Bethulie Dam or Gariep Dam, local 9-hole golf course, local lawn bowls, walking and cycling, or simply chill out under beautiful star-filled night sky.
