Alspenstube started as bush pub and become the hot spot among locals and friends elevating this Austrian secret to public dining status. With a few tables scattered here and there, a warm homely setting and a passion for true continental food, Alspentube is the perfect place for enjoying a traditional “Fruhschappen” (Sunday brunch) with family and friends. Many local and overseas visitors flock to relish the taste of their traditional dishes such as “Kalbsbratwurst” (veal sausages with sauerkraut) and famous Hungarian goulash soup. On the other hand, signature dishes such as the Eisbein/Schweinshaxe (crispy pork knuckle served with sauerkraut) come highly recommend by the chef and returning patrons alike. Desserts include a traditional Apfelstrudel and “Kaiserschmarren” a fluffy omelette dough with raisins served with applesauce. Welcome to the Fisherman Cottage Restaurant, but also a coffee shop and bistro. We serve the best coffee on the West Coast. Specially chosen by Stanley Cierenberg, owner of the Fisherman Cottage. Stanley is well travelled. He made an enormous effort to visit several coffee shops around the world, including Europe and America. From all this experience, he decided to create a special blend of coffee shop. The Fisherman Cottage sits as a beautiful gem of Hondeklipbaai in the Namaqualand on the West Coast. It's been designed in the old Cape Dutch style, with a thatched roof and bay windows to appreciate our beautiful West Coast ocean. While having a perfect view of the sea and a warm fireplace, you can ask for the brand of coffee of the day and enjoy talking to Stanley. The Fisherman Cottage Restaurant is very exclusive, different and unique. Stanley works on appointment only - so make sure you book in advance. Stanley likes to say 'this is the Gorgio Armani of the West Coast; pure, simple and clear' and so it is. One thing you should know is that the Fisherman Cottage Restaurant do not make cuisine, they make food, real food... Come enjoy some lounge music, coffee, good food and a warm feeling of love, peace and rest at the Fisherman Cottage Restaurant. We are not licensed, but you can bring your own drinks in for free.
