During June and July residents and visitors flock to the beach to witness the phenomenal annual Sardine Run, considered one of the largest migrations on the planet. This major event on the diving calendar attracts numerous international photographers and documentary film-makers eager to capture images of the spectacle.

Banana Beach is situated on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. It is safe for swimming with lifeguards on duty during holiday season and on weekends, as well as being shark-net protected. You can also fish from the beach or the rocks and go snorkelling in the rock pools which are filled with exquisite sea life.
