Airports in Windhoek

Eros Airport or Windhoek Eros Airport lies 5 km outside Windhoek. One of the busiest airports in the SADC region, Eros is the host to commercial, private, and scheduled traffic ranging from high performance jet aircraft to Cessna 152 trainers. Eros airport also handles all domestic flights to Windhoek - approximately 150 to 200 movements per day. The majority of traffic comes from the general aviation charter market, consisting mainly of the Cessna 210 aircraft, which is the most commonly used aircraft for charter and fly-in safaris in Namibia. Public buses connect Eros to HKIA and to downtown Windhoek.

Situated 45 kilome­tres east of Windhoek, Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) is Namibia’s only interna­tional airport supporting weekly non-stop flights to Frankfurt, Munich and London-Gat­wick, and daily connections to regional hubs such as Johannesburg and Cape Town. HKIA also services routes to Luanda (Angola), Maun (Botswana) and Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe).

Scheduled International airlines calling at HKIA are Air Na­mibia, South African Airways, SA Express, Brit­ish Airways – Comair, LTU International, TAAG Angola Airlines and Air Botswana. Public buses connect HKIA to the smaller domestic Eros Airport and to Windhoek. Visitors can rent cars from the airport. There are a few restaurants and retail shops in the terminals.
