A fundamental upgrade transformed the old Green Point Stadium into a multi-purpose sports facility situated between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Town's seaboard suburb of Green Point. Cape Town Stadium was completed at the end of 2009 and provides seating for 70 000 people. It features a retractable dome to shelter spectators and players should Cape Town's unpredictable winter weather become unfavourable.
