Bushwa Game Lodge is situated on 1000ha in the beautiful province of Limpopo in the heart of the Waterberg biosphere; the ideal stop over on route to Botswana. Offering an unique African experience, the lodge is home to a large variety of game including giraffe, eland, kudu, red hartbeest and njala.

The lodge offers guests a variety of accommodation, one of which is the 20 sleeper Bush-camp Lodge which has five rooms, two tented chalets and a loft room. The Tree House offers comfortable accommodation for two while each of the Luxury Safari Style Tents sleep four guests. The Deluxe Spa Room is ideal for two guests.

The rates include breakfast, high tea, dinner and two game drives per day. Lunch can be ordered at an additional cost and high tea is served at 15:30.

Bushwa Game Lodge have big trees with hammocks so that guests can relax and around the pool as well as a wooden deck and outside bar. Conference facilities are also available.

Guests can enjoy various activities such as game Drives by qualified game drivers, walking trails ranging from 2 to 3 hours, picnics at the banks of the river by ordering a picnic basket, bush sleep outs under the stars with the rangers on a deck as well as horse riding and bass fishing.

Ant’s Hill is hosted by wonderful staff that creates an open and friendly atmosphere. Built by Ant and Tessa on the edge of a cliff, this bush home offers breath-taking views across the Waterberg. With spacious rooms and vast folding doors, the thatched lodge blends into the bush while the exotic furniture and brightly coloured African fabrics make it both sophisticated and comfortable.

The draped four-poster beds are seven foot wide and each bathroom is spectacular, offering guests sunken baths and waterfall showers. Set in boulders on the edge of the cliff, the swimming pool cascades over the lip of the gorge (also heated), inducing you to relax there for hours. Ant’s Hill caters for a maximum of 12 guests and is booked on a non-exclusive basis; however, should you wish to book the lodge on an exclusive basis this can be done.

Ant’s Hill offer the opportunity for some of the greatest game viewing in the African bush – from horseback. You can canter along open sandy tracks or transverse high ridges with spectacular vistas. The pace can be as fast or relaxed as the rider would like. When you come across game you can often get so close the experience is unforgettable.

We have fit, reliable and responsive horses, providing a choice for both the professional rider and the absolute beginner (you do not need to have riding experience to ride with us). The herd of 70 horses is made up of big thoroughbreds and Arab-boerperd crosses and includes some fabulous children’s ponies. We use comfortable Maclelan saddles and have English saddles available. Rides are led by two competent guides and the emphasis is on safety at all times. We therefore advise all guests to wear protective head gear whilst out riding. For the enthusiastic rider, you may wish to ride twice daily and turn your trip into a luxury riding safari, alternatively for the less eager; riding can be one of the many activities you can enjoy. Many guests learn to ride here. It is compulsory for all clients to wear head protection gear whilst riding. Should clients not have their own riding hats to bring with them, we do have a selection of various sizes at both lodges

Guided bush walks:
For those who prefer walking, our guides will guide you through the bushveld on foot. These walks are informative and interactive, enabling guests to gain knowledge of the flora, fauna and animals resident on the reserves. Learning to recognize tracks is great fun. Whilst these walks can be in the form of a gentle stroll, the more energetic can hike over the plains and down impressive gorges.

Game drives:
Our guides will be available to take you out in an open 4x4 Landcruiser either for a morning or afternoon game drive or using a spotlight at night to find elusive nocturnal animals, such as the rare brown hyena, aardvark and porcupine.

Children:
Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill will give your children a life-changing experience. Special activities are laid on for children and teenagers who enjoy getting involved in the running of a game reserve. Children of all ages can join their parents on all activities or can alternatively be taken out separately. Toys and games are available to keep young ones occupied between activities and the lawned gardens surrounding both bush homes create a safe haven for them to play in. Special food and meal times can be arranged and children are welcome to come to supper in their dressing gowns. While the variety of activities keep all well entertained you will all learn a great deal about wildlife and gain inspiration to last you a lifetime. It’s quite educational, riding lessons are also available for the novice rider. Many children learn to ride and how to appreciate the environment here.

We go to a historic thatched church on Sundays where you can meet local people and see the 1914 building designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Children can attend a colorful Sunday school where the Sotho children sing choruses in rousing harmony.

We are happy to take you shopping in the local town where you will find a wide variety of local and African arts and crafts.

Wining and Dining:
We take great pride in our sumptuous home cooking, dining outside whenever possible under shady trees. We often end morning game activities with a bush lunch, while at night we sit around open fires under the stars. Excellent South African estate wines are served. Nedile Lodge is situated in the Malaria free Welgevonden Game Reserve, just 3 hours north of Pretoria. Welgevonden Reserve is a declared Heritage Site of 33000 hectares and border the Marekele National Park. All situated in the breathtaking Waterberg Biosphere. A true bushveld environment is home to some of Africa’s most sought after game species including one of the largest collections of white square-lip rhino on private land. Other species occurring are elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, eland, sable and many other varieties of antelope. There may even be the opportunity of catching a glimpse of the aardvard, brown hyena or rarely seen honey badger.

Five exclusive suites, carefully positioned between rocky outcrops on a north facing slope and breath-taking views of the Waterberg mountains, compliment this location. Two of the suites may be used as family units with an inter-leading entrance hall. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers.

The main building has a central African theme and consists of a lounge/bar and dining area, all leading out onto seligna decks emphasising the natural environment. Like many other private game reserves, the lions at Mabalingwe are contained in a separate high security, fenced area of the reserve. It is necessary to book for a visit to the Mabalingwe Lion Enclosure Wednesdays and Sundays at nine am. The cost is R 145 per person, including transport to the lion camp from Itaga Lodge.

Resident guests at Itaga Lodge have access to the superb Zebula Country Club and Spa, located about 30 minutes’ drive from the lodge. Bonwa Phala exclusive accommodation comprises of a Main Lodge with ten chalets and a Tented Camp with five tents, guaranteeing guests their privacy and solitude.

The Main Lodge's ten open-plan chalets all feature en-suite bathrooms. Guests can choose between double and family size chalets. All chalets have their own patio and are conveniently situated near to the main complex. The thatched, central main complex consists of an indoor dining area, an informal lounge area with DStv, and a cosy covered bar area that opens up onto an intimate open-air, rustic boma. Guests have the option of eating outside at the fire or retreating into the indoor dining area. There is an outdoor pool with a covered shelter next to it for those who love relaxing around the pool but don't want to expose themselves to the sun’s rays for too long.

Early morning and sunset game drives as well as guided bush walks are offered on a daily basis, but must be pre-booked. Detailed information is available on request and bush braais can be organised by prior arrangement.

Resident guests at Bonwa Phala have access to the superb 5 Star Zebula Golf Estate and Spa which is about a 10-minute drive from Bonwa Phala. Zebula offer a variety of activities such as golf, quad-bike safaris, archery, clay-pigeon shooting, fishing, horse safaris, spa treatments, restaurants, a convenience store, a signature design mountain bike course, and much more.

With five beautifully appointed chalets, we accommodate a maximum of 10 guests at a time. Surrounded by striking Seringa trees and spectacular views from the hilltops, each chalet has an en-suite bathroom, an outside shower, and a private deck and Jacuzzi. Experience simple luxury in your beautiful chalet and enjoy the personalized service. A feast of flavours will complete your experience with meals being served in different locations every night.
