The Groot Nyl River forms part of the upper feeding area of the Nylsvlei floodplain which is the largest ephemeral floodplain vlei in Southern Africa.

Silver Rocks Caravan Park is a development of the popular Silver Streams Lodge on a 510-hectare game farm with abundant wildlife, and is deeply nestled into the bushveld in the Waterberg Mountain Range, just 18 km outside of Bela-Bela and only 130 km from Pretoria.

Silver Rocks Caravan Park sets a new standard for luxury caravanning and camping in South Africa. The ablutions are out of this world. Silver Rocks offers 51 fully equipped stands, 12 m by 12 m, on lawns and some in beautiful shaded setting with paved roads to prevent dust, and excellent 5-Star ablutions and cleaning facilities, including washing machines. There are also two private family bathrooms, one of which is wheelchair friendly, and have baby bath facilities. Stands have electricity.

We offer a choice of accommodation in our exclusive self-catering Guest Lodge, our unique self-catering Chalets, or the spacious Camping Sites.

The Chalets are set around a dam where animals come to drink. Each of the thatched chalets are creatively decorated, blending with the bushveld environment. They each have two bedrooms and separate wheelchair-friendly bathrooms. No TV. Kids playground with swings and sandpits together with a swimming pool.

Our Guest Lodge is an exclusive and ideal getaway for groups, tucked away in the bush, and booked on a self-catering basis only. There is a separate kitchen with braai facilities and a lapa area. As the lodge is set on a working farm, guests will hear the sounds of chickens and geese, and are welcome to play with the friendly dogs. The managers reside on site, and are always available to assist with any queries. Flat screen TV with full DStv bouquet.

There are 10 spacious camping sites with lovely views; equipped with braai facilities, running water and power points. Swimming pool and kids playground. Groups between two and eight people can accommodate one stand.

We have six rondavels sleeping two guests in each, and a camping area with electrical points and ablution facilities. The rondavels and campsites are set among shady bushveld trees and are easily accessible off the main road through town. Breakfast is available by prior arrangement only.

Vaalwater is situated in the uppermost reaches of the Mokolo River and the village is surrounded by farms and reserves offering plenty of opportunities for adventure activities and outdoor pursuits including game and bird watching, mountain biking, horse riding, hiking and 4x4 trails.

Bushbuck Caravan Park is located near to the Mabula Game Reserve and offers beautiful, well-appointed campsites just a short drive from Johannesburg. These great grass campsites are well-shaded from the elements by many trees.

Guests have the option of a private site with their own bathroom with a bath and shower, or a semi-private site with a shared ablution facility containing a bath and a shower no further than 50 m away. There are also communal sites with bathrooms no further than 20 m away. These bathrooms have a bath only. Each site has access to 220 V electrical points, and has its own water tap and braai stand. Laundry facilities and washing lines are also provided.

In addition, Bushbuck Caravan Park offer a small shop on site selling necessities, as well as wood and ice. Features include a tea garden and bar, and a games room with table tennis, a pool table and darts, while a large swimming pool is ideal for the warmer months. The campsite offers first aid available to guests, cellphone reception, and on site security. The site is wheelchair friendly and unfortunately no pets are allowed.

Mabula Game Reserves offers a true Big 5 experience, with day and night game drives available. The nearby area offers many places ideal for bird-watching and mountain biking. Alternatively, Bela Bela is a reasonable drive away and offers relaxing hot springs and many resorts with water slides and play parks.

Madikela Game Lodge is situated in the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, 32 km outside Vaalwater on the Melkrivier Road, and a comfortable two-hour, 15-minutes drive from Pretoria. Madikela, meaning "Place of the Setting Sun", is situated on a limestone plateau which was formed millions of years ago. This limestone, which rests on a granite base, has in time eroded, forming the most amazing rock formations.

The main garden area features a large swimming pool, 18-hole minigolf, a jungle gym, and games room. Accommodation comprises six secluded, thatched, self-catering cottages, each with its own game-viewing deck, a Jacuzzi splash pool, and enclosed barbecue boma.

The Bush Camp is located 80 m from the main swimming pool and consists of four thatched bungalows, each sleeping nine guests. Features at the camp include a ladies and gents ablution block with hot showers and flushing toilets, and a bush kitchen in the barbecue boma with a large fridge-freezer.

Activities include a 4X4 trail which takes approximately five hours to complete, with exit routes provided to shorten the trail if required. The reserve also offers the most wonderful sand stone formations, and many guests have enjoyed climbing onto these rocks for a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Waterberg. To view game such as giraffe, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, blesbuck, impala, warthog and baboons, one can either self-drive, cycle or walk. Due to safety issues, buffalo may only be viewed from outside the electrified camp.

In addition, there are three fully licensed restaurants within 4 km of Madikela, where apart from enjoying a fine meal, one can view tigers, white lion, leopard, caracal, hyena, wolves, reptiles, and birds of prey.

Pets allowed under the conditions; must have their own bedding and bowls. No pets allowed on the beds. Pets must be on a leash at all times when out walking.

Pets limited to two small/medium or one large dog. Owners must clean up after their dogs.

The emphasis at Phumuza is on relaxation. We offer 100 acres of diverse indigenous bushveld, prolific bird life and small game, and there is a quaint lookout tower which provides an awesome view - ideal for a romantic picnic with picnic baskets available on request. The terrain is fairly flat with interesting walks on well set out paths.

Cool off in our refreshing pool after conquering the bush trails or watch the sun's tranquil and serene farewell at the end of the day while relaxing around the natural rock pool or rise early to welcome its enchanting return at Leopards Rock, named after the sighting of a female leopard and her two cubs.

We also offer night walks as well as bush breakfasts. All the chalets and log cabins are self-catering with fully equipped kitchens, each with a gas cooker and barbecue facilities. In addition, bush camping and caravan sites are available, as well as limited conference facilities.

“Built by campers for campers” Matamba offers two exclusive upmarket bush campsites. Situated on a beautiful four-hundred hectares private game farm, two and a half hours from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Matamba is ideal as a weekend getaway or as a stopover on the way to Botswana.

Tau camp is spread over about four hectares, with the campsites and the facilities connected by paths winding through the open woodland. It has three individual sites; Drongo, Hornbill and Francolin, they are about two-hundred metres apart so are very private. Each site has a fireplace that is supplied with firewood and a tap there is power at the main bathroom and the kitchen with provision for campers to plug in an extension if required.

The spacious family bathroom is a thatch building, with existing rocks as the shower floor. Netting windows offer lovely views onto the surrounding bush. Gas geysers at all the units ensure an endless supply of hot water. There is an outside shower and an outside toilet both constructed around existing trees. The kitchen is also thatch with two washing sinks, an info area and a table and chairs for those wishing to swap travelling experiences.

Mara’s Camp is a private camp for one group only. It is situated in a lovely thick woodland in the middle of the farm, it is built from natural materials and blends perfectly into the surrounding bush. The two outside family bathrooms are stunningly built around tall trees, each bathroom has a shower with rocks used as the shower floor, a flush toilet and basin. A gas geysers supplies hot water. The wash up area is built into a thicket of trees looking up to zebra plains . There is a large central fireplace and again firewood is supplied. There is no power at this camp.

Both campsites are unfenced allowing the game to wander freely through. It is common to find animals in and around the camps.

There are three waterholes and a natural spring, Kibu hide is a viewing deck two metres up in a wild Syringa tree, it looks over Zebra plains and a small waterhole. Ndege hide overlooks the spring, it is a thatch building on stilts and is a lovely place to spend a few hours.

There is no driving on the farm, but there are over sixty kilometers of sandy tracks to explore either on foot or on a mountain bike. (one needs to be experienced as the sand is thick in places) There are four marked trails, but the whole farm is open to be enjoyed.

There is a large variety of plains game on Matamba which are very relaxed and used to people walking, so it is often possible to get very close to them. Birding is also very rewarding with over 200 species recorded. With the lovely trees, wild flowers and grasses Matamba is the place to relax unwind and simply enjoy the bush.

Situated in the Limpopo Province on a privately owned 1200-hectare farm. This unique camp can accommodate 19 guests in six rooms and three camp stands. Linen and bathroom towels are supplied and the rooms are serviced daily. The camp has an indoor lounge with selected DStv channels as well as a fully equipped communal kitchen. Our friendly staff will provide firewood in the traditional African boma for your evening meal.

There is no electricity, we use solar lights, paraffin lamps, open fires and gas for cooking. A fridge is available that runs on batteries, charged by solar panels. A few other things we don't have are; crime, pollution or city noises. Cellphone signal is also minimal; they can be charged via USB ports that is located in four rooms and in the kitchen.

Experience the sounds of the bushveld and observe wildlife drinking at the water hole. An experience of a lifetime in this small, intimate camp that is peaceful, quiet and has wide-open skies that will surely make you return again and again. Unwind; come live in the bush for a while.
