Near all the attractions but quiet enough to have a relaxing holiday. My favorite North Coast spot.

Not so impressive as expected. Beach not clean. Parking area at Spar very limited.

My family loves Umdhloti beach, especially the rocks and the variety of sea life that lives there. the beach is just so clean and the sand so soft, a little piece of heaven for us to get away to when real life is just a bit much.

We thoroughly enjoyed Umdloti, the people are friendly, the service if great, devine dining, fantastic clean long beaches. Our only regret is being unable to stay longer or move there. We recommend it to anyone looking for peace and tranquility!

I absolutely recommend Umdloti Beach, its safe, clean, neat and quiet. It is worth every cent, and we enjoyed every moment while we stayed there. We stayed at Camarque 92 which was easy to find, the place had breath taking views of the beach, and the restaurants were easily accessible. We really had a time of our lives. If you do not visit Umdloti Beach you are missing out big time. Definitely would love to come back....

My wife and I had an amazing stay at Drifters. We live out in Gauteng, and never get to enjoy this kind of getaway. The seaview was absolutely breath taking.

Unspoilt beaches ideal for long walks, sitting and reading a book or just chilling. Beautiful rocky little coves for the youngsters to have fun in the surf and to go exploring. All in all a great holiday destination where you can just unwind.

Umdloti beach is a wonderful destination that has been luck enough to avoid the overcrowding of so many coastal areas by overpowering tower time-share blocks. It has managed to retain its village atmosphere where people, walk, run and cycle freely along the beachfront at all times of day and night without having to look over their shoulders. In the silly seasons of the year you do not have to leave Umdloti as there are several restaurants of varying types and certainly there will be one to fit each pocket. The swimming beach boasts a tidal pool with life guards in attendance. The Dolphins cruise up and down the coast each day and delight the surfers who often leave their boards and disappear to swim with these beautiful creatures. A magical part of the evening is to sit on the balcony or wander along the sea front and look at all the lights out to sea of ships waiting to dock in Durban Harbour. It would seem that Umdloti has been left behind in the rush for progress but that is very much a part of its magic for most people.

A stay in Umdloti is like a stay in paradise. Not only does it provide a long stretch of gorgeous clean sand and a warm ocean to swim in summer and winter, but also the peace and quiet your spirit needs to become refreshed. There are those enormous Milk Wood Trees and ample birdlife, fishing and snorkeling You can have your early morning jog or walk without petrol fumes and without feeling scared, it offers beauty, silence and safety. You can buy your popcorn your shells and all the fun stuff on the beach and enjoy those ice-cold ice creams on the warm sand. If you like the “lights”don’t think you will be isolated, as the Gateway shopping centre with 21 movie theatres is only ten minutes away and to the North you also have the new and comforting Ushaka Airport, a ten minutes drive. Also the upmarket Umhlanga Village is there to enjoy the feeling of street café’s and more shopping but, without a car you can walk and find several restaurants in Umdloti to every persons taste. Even the food connoisseur would be content. There are 7 restaurants to feast on in Umdloti and you can sip your wine and stroll home If you feel like staying in the little paradise and venturing out, there are the Drakensberg mountains to visit as well as the Umfolozi Game Reserve. You cal also drive North towards the Wetlands and have more nature to feast on. In Durban a mere 25 minutes from Umdloti, is the Water World with the wonders of the ocean and all the wondrous and fun things children and their parents alike, dream of. There is no better place to be for you winter of summer holiday!

Best place for a holiday. Safe, clean and good views. The tidal pool is great and the pathways to run and walk on the road is perfect. Restaurants, Pharmacy and Spar are within walking distance. Airport is about 10 minutes away. Highly recommended destination for a family holiday.

Umdloti beach has been improving each year as we have travelled quite occasionally to this side of Kwazulu Natal coastline. I have notice that it has become more difficult to acquire accomodation in Umdloti, as this part of Durban is extremely popular.

This is a very nice beach, however, there is quite a bit of litter. Also the parking is a bit of an issue.

The beach is a great place to walk with easy swimming. The police presence was very comforting and the restricted access during busy times was a great plus for the people on holiday.

Umdloti is a lovely beach and ideal for families with children. This was our third visit and we will certainly visit again. It is not too crowded and has all the amenities you would require. It is located close to Durban and Umhlanga.
