Summer Elegance at The House of Krone, the stylish event held at the Krone family’s 299 year old estate, Twee Jonge Gezellen in Tulbagh. This annual occasion marks the grand finale to the busy year and the beginning of the festive summer celebrations.
This is summer socializing at its finest in a relaxed, yet elegant, ambiance with the crème de la crème of delicatessen offerings to tantalize your senses. Start your day with a glass of Krone MCC to enhance your mood & work your way through all the vintages on offer with different delectable delights throughout the day. Two of Cape Town’s trendy restaurants, Wasabi & Osumo Health Foods, will be preparing delectable sushi & wraps on site. Also available, will be fresh oysters, strawberries & cream, olives, nougat & Turkish delight amongst others.
History records that some of the early Champagne Houses originally started out as textile firms, offering a gift bottle to their customers until demand for the bubbly was sufficient to stand on its own. It is therefore rather appropriate that one of the most acclaimed names, Kobus Dippenaar Haute Couture will be show-casing his ‘High Summer Collection’ at this year’s affair. With almost 20 years as one of the top ateliers, Kobus Dippenaar is no new-comer to the South African fashion industry & will be launching internationally early in the new year.
Enjoy your glass of Krone MCC bubbly as you meander through an exhibition of vintage cars & cycles, or relax in the shade of the old oak trees & fountains surrounding the cellar. Meet with friends up on the tasting centre terrace to soak in the vineyards and the imposing mountain range views. Those guests who are a little more energetic will be able to participate in a gentle game or two of boules.
To complete the day of sensual splendour, you will also be entitled to attend a sunset concert by Sterling EQ, South Africa's sensational all-woman electric quartet. They will be playing unforgettable arrangements of instrumental works and new songs from their debut album Nova. This instrumental super-group captivates audiences from all walks of life with their spectacular display of virtuosity and their energetic stage presence which, together with their sleek appearance and stylish modern instruments, makes for an unforgettable entertainment experience.
Stay for the day or make it a weekend visit to the beautiful Tulbagh valley. Accommodation in-and-around Tulbagh, ranges from five star establishments to self-catering and bed-and-breakfast facilities.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Bicycling Empowerment Network (BEN). Their mission is poverty alleviation through the promotion of the use of the bicycle in all its forms in order to enhance low-cost non-motorised transport and to improve health through linking exercise and mobility. They will be present on the day displaying their vintage collection of bicycles.
Need to know? Entrance to Summer Elegance at the House of Krone is R100 per person. This includes a champagne flute glass, admission to the Kobus Dippenaar fashion show and the Sterling EQ sunset concert. Under 18’s must be accompanied by their parents. An entrance fee of R50 per child is applicable.
