A wonderfully wild dining experience, the Hippo Hollow restaurant provides a unique setting in which to enjoy superb food and a great atmosphere. The restaurant provides breakfast, lunch and dinner from a continually updated menu offering local food in all its wonderful forms.

Situated in the lush surrounds of Sabie, flanked by unspoilt forests, mountain streams and waterfalls, Lone Creek River Lodge beacons sumptuous dining affairs amidst the warmth, peace and tranquility of Mpumalanga. Enjoy decadent breakfasts, scrumptious lunches and romantic dinners or celebrate life with that special someone dining in secluded privacy. The wine cellar caters for those with intimate tastes who enjoy selections of fine South African wine to compliment the occasion. Resting in the heart of the lowveld exuding a stylish yet relaxed ambiance, Rissington Inn tempts a wide variety of traditional dishes with an authentic twist. Indulge in country favourites such as ostrich carpaccio, served with rocket, beetroot carpaccio, brinjal crisps and chopped olive dressed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For mains, try the tarragon trout, tender pan-fried trout fillets on a bed of spinach, with a creamy tarragon sauce (served separately), julienne vegetables and gratin potatoes. Desert touches on a classic apple pie laden with cinnamon and raisins, served hot or cold. Alongside firm favourites, Rissington Inn offers wonderful soups, interesting starters, succulent trout dishes, fine curries, tender fillet steaks and a range of vegetarian dishes to suit the most discerning palate.

Rosenkavalier Restaurant can be found in the Flycatcher Castle; a grand and elegant setting perched on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment. This 17th centaury dining experience enrobes the palate with speciality bohemian cooking and classical music for a feast that applauds and satisfies. Then menu offers soups such as velvety butternut, with a hint of Eastern spices and coconut milk. Starters selections include home made pork terrine, baked black mushrooms with feta and rosemary and a variety of trout specialities such as the fluffy, buttery trout quiche with a delicious accompaniment of fennel, peppers, apple and balsamic vinegar. Mains delight with Austrian beef roulades with a piquant filling of bacon, carrot and gherkin all served with clove-scented onion rice and fruity red cabbage. Lamb scallopini in a sauce of rosemary and red wine as well as grilled line fish on a bed of spinach and steamed potatoes. Dessert enrobes the palate with layers of aromatic almond biscuit soaked in custard and alternated with tropical fruit compote the ultimate, “to-die-for” Castle dessert and steaming rice pudding with lemon curd and sour cream. Discerning palates can enjoy breakfast and lunch in beautiful surroundings at the Flycatcher Castle in Graskop.

Starters of prawn, mango and sunflower seed salad, deli platters of homemade pesto, tapenades and marinated artichokes followed by lamb cutlets with rosemary potatoes, crocodile curry and rump with parmesan mash and green peppercorns sauce will only be complemented by a pavlova with Chantilly cream, confetti of fruit and vanilla syrup, and irresistible milktart, or a cheese platter that will do any fire place, loving couple and good bottle of red proud. Wines have been carefully selected, tasted, and some more, having gone with a few old faithfuls like the Rubicon, Rupert & Rothschild, Haute Cabriere and L’Ormarins, to a couple of new slightly frisky recruits like the Cape point Sauvignon Blanc and the Groote Post “Old Mans blend”. For the more adventurous a Gosset Grande Réserve in true French tradition is also available. Décor and table arrangements are rather special, with direct access to the largest rose supplier of the Lowveld market

Once monthly you can join us for our famous “Pudding Club” which is held every first Friday of the month where you can come and indulge your sweet tooth with a selection of 6 desserts after having a delicious main course. The a la Carte menu offers a variety of delicious meals suited for any occasion dining with a well appointed wine list paired to compliment each meal.
