With six en-suite bedrooms, each with a private entrance leading onto the garden, this is the perfect place to catch your breath and stay for a while.

Rooms features include a TV with M-Net, a hairdryer, heating panel, and electric blankets in the winter. There is a lovely fireplace in the lounge and laundry facilities are available on request. Start your day with a scrumptious breakfast on the terrace with breathtaking mountain views.

This 1840 historical Swellendam home offers much character. From the front veranda, guests can overlook the mountain and town activities, while the back porch with vine overlooks the pool and big shady garden.

Bloomestate will be the ideal stopover halfway from Cape Town to the Garden route but it is also a comfortable base from which you can explore the area, the area has enough to offer to make it worthwhile to stay a night or two more.

There are two themes which inspired the decoration of the luxury seven rooms such as Four Seasons: These four modern and fashionably decorated rooms are each inspired on a different season. Each makes a clear colour-and-season statement: spring green, sun orange, nostalgic purplish pink and Nordic blue, and The Elements: Earth, Wind and Fire are the themes for the other three rooms. With chocolate brown, greyish blue or romantic red as their main color, they each have their own unique atmosphere.

All rooms have a comfortable sitting area with flat screen TV, DVD and are wireless LAN accessible. i-Pod music stations and bar facilities. Luxurious bathrooms with bath and a walk in shower. French doors open onto landscaped gardens with a tranquil dam, heated saltwater pool, outside jacuzzi and mountain views. Accommodation consists of three double en-suite rooms in the Manor House and self-catering accommodation is also offered in the restored old stables on the farm. The country guest house is located on a working farm producing export citrus and milk, and we also have some blackberries and olives. Walks around the farm are a must. Fresh fruit is available from late March until the end of July. You can also have all your meals on the farm, as there is a great kitchen and restaurant that will satisfy any palate.

Activities in the surrounding areas include great golfing, some of the best mountain walks in the Cape, and the adjoining Bontebok National Park is a great excursion. One can also visit the whales at De Hoop, or taste some of the best vines in the Overberg region. If you like mountain passes, the beautiful Tradow Pass and quaint Karroo town of Barrydale is right on our doorstep.

The Swellendam area is proud of its local museum which displays the early Dutch settlers history. Swellendam is the third oldest town in South Africa and has some of the best preserved Dutch architecture in the country. The main house on the farm Rotterdam is a National Monument.

The resort is a fisherman’s dream. The river boasts a large number of fish including the carp, bass, eel, springer and barber. The roads to the resort are accessible with regular vehicles. There is a challenging 4X4 route laid out along the side of the river where 4X4 fans can let off some steam.
