The lodge comprises 21 luxurious air-conditioned units, each with its own fully self-contained kitchen. Flat-screen TVs in all rooms give access to DStv for those rare days of rain in the area. There are seven two-sleeper units, 12 four-sleeper units, two three-sleeper units and one luxury Honeymoon Suite. All rooms are fully air-conditioned and offer luxurious fittings. The rooms are provided with DStv, complimentary tea and coffee, toiletries, bed linen, towels, microwave ovens and fridge-freezers.

The central thatched boma faces out over the swimming pool and is the ideal place to either relax in the hammocks or sit in the shade to adjust to the relaxing pace of Zululand. Lodge Afriquè is a bed and breakfast lodge offering eight free-standing, en-suite thatched units and can cater for up to 16 people at a time. The spacious chalets are situated in a tropical garden with a sparkling pool and each offers air-conditioning, a private outdoor shower and a patio.

All the chalets are connected to the central lodge by a raised wooden deck. The central lodge includes the breakfast area, bar, braai and leisure area, and is equipped with Satellite television and free Internet access. Secure parking is also provided.

This region, in the northeast of KwaZulu-Natal, is also known as the Elephant Coast; an astonishingly beautiful strip of land stretching some 220 km long and 70 km wide. Apartment 21 overlooks the garden and the swimming pool. It has two bedrooms, sleeping up to four adults and two kids. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed, the second bedroom has a double bed, and there is a sleeper couch in lounge. The bathroom has a shower, a double wash basin and a toilet. There is a fully fitted kitchen with a fridge, a microwave, a kettle, a toaster, an oven and a hob.

The apartment leads out to a balcony with a table and six chairs. Linen and towels are provided, however not beach towels, dish cloths, sponges and dish washing liquid. A daily cleaning service can be arranged on request.

We have four four-sleeper units, one five-sleeper unit and one two-sleeper. They are luxurious, air-conditioned log cabins which are fully serviced. Each unit has two bedrooms, a bathroom, an open-plan kitchen, a lounge and a private deck outside where guests can relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility while watching the magnificent African sunset. The resident louries, hornbills, hippos and crocodiles can often be seen. We also have a crystal clear pool for all the sun lovers to soak up the hot African rays while enjoying the picturesque view of the estuary and landscape.

St Lucia was declared a World Heritage Site in December 1999. It is without a doubt one of the world's greatest destinations as it’s situated within a nature reserve and is surrounded by five distinct ecosystems; one of them being Lake St Lucia; the largest estuarine lake system in Africa which is home to over 800 hippos and 1500 Nile crocodiles. It is a bird lover's paradise with over 520 species identified in and around the area.

Shops, pubs and restaurants are within walking distance. There is a public pleasure resort with a water slide only two minutes away.

St Lucia is an attractive village lying at the southernmost tip of iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site (formerly Greater St Lucia Wetland Park). This thriving eco-destination owes its popularity to the close proximity of various attractions and things to do in the area.

Surrounded by the estuary and Indian Ocean, St Lucia is almost an island. Here you can do a boat ride to see hippos and crocs, kayak on the lake, visit the Crocodile Research Centre, or do a hike or a horse trail. Nile crocodiles sun themselves on the banks; hippo roam the streets after dark and leopard are seen occasionally. Humpback Whales migrate along the coast from June to November. Loggerhead and leather back turtles lay their eggs on the beautiful sandy beaches from November to March.

St Lucia offers a number of walking trails where small antelope, mongoose and Samango monkeys can be seen. Birdwatchers are up for an exciting experience with around 450 recorded species to tick off. Not too far off is Mkuze, one of the best birding spots in South Africa. Also a long-time hangout for keen anglers, St Lucia has a good selection of tackle and bait shops. An assortment of seafood restaurants line the banks of the estuary.
