Shell’s Place is a charming Cape Cod house designed with space, comfort and luxury in mind. The house is set high up on Elsies Peak overlooking the ocean, mountains and Simonstown.
The panoramic view includes the ever-changing antics of the sea and birdlife, the surfers, as well as the navy ships and sail-boats parading by.
Please Note: Shell's Place is not suitable for the infirm as there are quite a few steps to climb.
The building extends over three levels with your host living in a completely separate unit taking up the lowest level. The holiday atmosphere pervades as soon as you enter Shell’s Place with its glass-walled entrance which functions well for bird and view gazing. The décor is elegantly-casual and the whole house is bright and airy with glorious sea and mountain views, thanks to its array of large windows.
The kitchen is nicely sized and well equipped with a microwave, stove with large oven, fridge with large freezer, washing machine and tumble-drier. Coffee and teas are provided. Shelley can also ensure the kitchen is nicely stocked with food and goodies on arrival. Please request the menu of "Arrive & Relax" packs when booking.
Shell’s Place borders a section of the Table Mountain National Park. A path through the natural fynbos garden leads out the back gate and onto the glorious Elsies Peak hiking trail. While walking this easy going path, take the time to notice the rich diversity of plants and birdlife. Please note Shell’s Place is not suitable for the infirm as there are quite a few steps to climb. On a clear day you can see both the Indian and the Atlantic Oceans, the Hottentot Holland Mountain Range across False Bay and the layout of mountains from Cape Point to Table Mountain.
From Shell’s Place you will find yourself spoilt by a selection of beautiful white sandy beaches dotted with large granite boulders and tidal pools. Being on the warmer Indian Ocean, snorkeling and swimming, sometimes with penguins, are popular activities. Directly below Shell’s Place is the intimate Glencairn Beach. It is popular with families due to the safety of the tidal pool, while devoid of the crowds that flock to the nearby Fishhoek Beach.
Ideally situated, halfway between Fishhoek and Simonstown, our guests have easy access to shops, restaurants, four esteemed golf-courses and the interesting sights of the South Peninsula.
Whether it’s surfing, shark-cage diving, scuba, mountain biking, hiking, horse riding, fine wining and dining you prefer, it’s all here. Cape Point, Boulders Beach, the Stellenbosch and Constantia Wine Routes, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Hout Bay and more, are all in close proximity.
After a day’s outing, the private atmosphere of Shell’s Place offers an oasis of peace and tranquility. With the hush of the sea and tweet of the birds, it’s so nice to just sit and relax while watching the view turn pink over False Bay.
