Die Vishuis Restaurant is situated on the bank of the Berg River, in the West Coast town of Velddrif. This restaurant was once a real 'vishuis' where the fisherman used to salt the harders in big tanks. What remains of those days are the sea shells in the original sand walls, portions of which have been uncovered. This quirky little national monument has been kept appealingly genuine, complete with open beams and a long stoep where you can eat seafood as well as other scrumptious dishes and enjoy the flamingos, pelicans and herons because this is a major wetland area. A restaurant called Die Vishuis must of course have a scrumptious fish and seafood menu but this is not all that is served, Herman who has 31 years experience in the hospitality trade has put his wide experience to good use, creating seasonal and interesting West Coast dishes. You will be made welcome as you arrive at the door. After being shown to your table your friendly waiter will help you select your meal from the menu and if needed will call Herman for any further assistance if required. Being a small intimate restaurant we are able to create personal service for your enjoyment and relaxation throughout your meal. Guests are welcome to bring own Wine and Beer along - no corkage charged, as we are not licensed yet.

The GKNP College is a hospitality training centre, located right outside the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. The college is run by its students. The college has an a la carte restaurant, a South African cuisine restaurant, a fast food restaurant, a delicatessen, a street café, a coffee shop, a ladies bar, a beer hall and a bush bar. It also has a night club over the weekends, as well as a wedding chapel and several conference venues. The meals are fairly basic and affordable. Support South Africa's students and make a turn when you are in the area.

Quayside Cabin is not your average restaurant. This fresh seafood eatery is a transformed shipping container with an array of eclectic items placed all over. Quayside Cabin has the most envied location in Hermanus, with prime positioning in the new harbour overlooking the activities of the harbour and ocean. This is a causal and charming space where the service is friendly and banter is encouraged. Apart from the pleasant service, this is most certainly the best place to experience fresh fish and catch from the harbour straight into the pan. With the limited space available, it amazes one how effortlessly this type of quality of food is presented each time. Come rain or shine, Quayside Cabin is open. Summer days are spent enjoying the sea breeze and in winter the blinds are lowered and heaters strategically positioned for a cosy meal. Seafood is what’s on the menu so don’t head to the harbour if you are looking for a rare steak. Split a platter to taste all the starters, choose one of the hot pots, or pick the best fresh-off-the-boat fish dish. Kiddies have a small selection of meals to cater for the whole family. The Grill Room

The Grill Room is also open to the general public. The menu has been extended to not only serve meat, but also delicious kingklip with a very special dill sauce, the most succulent chicken schnitzel and finger licking good spare ribs. Prawns are also a favourite of many of the guests. We serve light lunches for the not so hungry and in-a-hurry guests from 12h00 noon. The meat is sourced from Chalmar Beef where the animals are grain fed. The meat is then aged for at least 21 days. Using our secret basting sauce which was acquired in 1979, the meat is grilled to perfection and served with a starch of choice and either vegetables or salad. The Grill Room is still famous for serving the best steaks in town.

Located up a side street in Sea Point, The Wooden Shoe is a steakhouse in the traditional sense complete with a small following and rumoured to be the second oldest steakhouse in Cape Town. That being said, don’t expect luxury or fussing over you service, this hole in the wall eatery is all about steaks and character décor complete with clogs adorning the walls. The tiny kitchen hosts legendary steaks, prepared by an overly worked and glowing owner who caters and indulges a local following and in-expensive wine list.
