Each of our five elegant, clean and en-suite, air-conditioned bedrooms have the best quality beds with cool cotton percale linen and their private entrance onto a patio area with access to the sparkling pool. Each room is equipped with a minibar, DStv (satellite), complimentary tea and coffee and complimentary quality toiletries. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail. Relax in the spacious living areas with comfy sofa’s and lots of books.

A complimentary weekday British and German newspaper is also available. We will also arrange airport transfers and drop off collection to and from local restaurants. Also perfect for business use with 24 hour Wi-Fi internet access. Close enough to Durban and Umhlanga to be there in 30-40 minutes. Our breakfast starts at 7.00 am so you won’t have to rush. The KwaZulu-Natal North Coast is well-known for its warm sub-tropical climate, wealth of marine life and rich African history. Salt Rock itself is named after the activity of King Shaka's handmaidens who used to collect dried salt off the rocks at low tide for trade with the passing settlers. Today the area boasts a host of attractions and activities.

Stroll along one of the beautiful protected beaches and take a swim in the warm Indian Ocean. Enjoy some excellent shore fishing, charter a boat for a deep sea experience or just to view the famed bottlenose dolphins at play. Take in a round of golf on one of the many world-class golf courses in the area. For the adventurous, there are quad bike trails, zip line trails and microlight flights. Visit the Umgeni Bird Park, Natal Sharks Board, the Moses Mabhida Stadium, uShaka Marine World or one of the many Zulu cultural sites or game reserves nearby.

    The name Salt Rock dates back to the heyday of the Zulu Empire when King Shaka’s handmaidens would come down to the coast here to collect salt to trade with the colonials based in what was then Port Natal, and is now Durban. Seems strange that the British hadn’t figured out for themselves how to make salt from sea water – but that’s the story. I mean, how hard can it be?

    Although Salt Rock is one of the many towns strung out along the KZN North Coast forming an almost continuous belt of hotels and residential developments, it is a tad more laid back than its neighbours, for example, Ballito. It’s a great family beach destination with safe bathing, a tidal pool and a lovely shady caravan park that’s very popular with local families.
