Silverton The famous Pioneer Museum in Silverton is a large farm displaying the typical lifestyle of the early settlers. Visitors can witness demonstrations on the techniques early settlers used to ground their wheat, create candles, bake bread and roast coffee, among many other things.
A Cape farmer, David Botha, was the first to settle on the farm in 1846. For many years it was used as a halfway station with coach-houses and stables for travelers. In 1961 it was donated to the municipality of Silverton and in 1975 it was named the Pioneer Museum.
Visitors can browse through the museum's shop, enjoy a picnic, or book out the hall, kitchen and lapas for a private function.

Groenkloof Much of South Africa’s architectural heritage goes far beyond broekie-lace and gables. The austere Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria pays homage to the gritty trekkers who deserted the Cape Colony in the mid 1800s.
The entire 62-metre high structure is loaded with symbolism, from the assegai motif entrance, to the rippling patterns and friezes of the ‘Hall of Heroes’ and the 64 laager wagons surrounding the building. There’s even an opening in the dome roof that allows the sun’s rays to light up the cenotaph every year at 12 noon, 16 December. In essence, the monument functions as a giant sundial.
Situated on top of Skanskop and within a nature reserve, the monument boasts lovely views of Pretoria. Shops, a restaurant, art gallery and various activities including horse rides are on offer.

Rivonia (36.3 km from Pretoria (Tshwane)) Lilliesleaf Farm is an insightful and interactive museum experience. It was at Liliesleaf farm that the most prominent leaders of South Africa’s struggle against Apartheid sought shelter, attended meetings and debated political and military strategy. Some of these included Nelson Mandela, Govan Mbeki, Walter Sisulu, Ahmed Kathrada, Bram Fischer, Joe Slovo, Ruth First, Raymond Mhaba, Rusty Bernstein, Bob Hepple, Harold Wolpe, and Denis Goldberg. Many of these individuals were discovered in the police’s raid on Liliesleaf farm, and tried in the subsequent Rivonia Treason Trial. They were to later spend over 25 years in prison.
"Liliesleaf was an old house that needed work and no one lived there. I moved in under the pretext that I was a houseboy or caretaker that would live there until my master took possession. I had taken the alias David Motsamayi, the name of one of my former clients. At the farm, I wore the simple blue overalls that were the uniform of the black male servant."

Voted as one of the BEST new tourism projects in the world at the “British Guild of Travel Writers Annual Awards 2010”.
