Description
Pomene Bay boasts miles of soft white sandy beaches and a large estuary with crystal clear salt water, home to a magnificent diversity of fish, dolphins and flamingos. Leather back turtles, sailfish and manta rays frequent the shallow and deep-water reefs. The near-extinct dugong is occasionally spotted here.
Reef and surf fishing is excellent between October and June, with catches of king and queen mackerel, queen fish, wahoo and Ignobilis kingfish. The scuba and snorkeling dive sites are outstanding and an amazing variety of marine life can be seen. The beach at Pomene also offers some lovely surfing.
