Look skywards for an eagle at the second oldest open in the world! Will Richard Sterne perform a hat-trick of wins when he tees off at the star-studded South African Open Championship?
Richard aims to become the first back-to-back winner of the South African Open Championship since Trevor Immelman in 2003/04 when he defends his title in the 99th edition of the second oldest national Open on the 17th of December 2009.
This year it is hosted at Pearl Valley Golf Estate, a magnificent 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course and is attracting some of the world’s top 20 players. Watch Ernie Els, Tim Clark, Trevor Immelman, Darren Clarke, Retief Goosen, Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and the 2007 winner, James Kingston, battle it out on the greens this December.

Most wins: 13 (Gary Player between 1956 - 1981). Most consecutive wins: five - Bobby Locke (1937-40 and 46); Gary Player (1965-69). Youngest winner: Bobby Locke (17 in 1935).
