Bare Necessities is a naturist friendly venue, whoever books first determines the dress code for the duration of the visit.

Bare Necessities is situated on a small dairy farm where we make our own cheese and cater by prior arrangement. We offer two rooms and a small campsite. There are horses on the farm or you can bring your own. Guests are welcome to bring their pets, but initially we will have to introduce them to our dogs. There is a small swimming pool to keep things cool for those hot summer days.

The little village of Suurbraak lies in a fold of the Langeberg Mountains by the incredible Tradouw Pass which features beautiful natural swimming pools. Bare Necessities is 13 km from Suurbraak and 3 km off the N2 on a dirt road, Note that the last 3 kms can be a bit rough.

The heart of the village of Suurbraak has been preserved, and the buildings that rest on the village square and the two church buildings have been restored.

Suurbraak lies in a little piece of heaven, away from commercial centres. People still cook on wood-burning stoves, and use donkey-drawn ploughs and horses to get around. Here you will find real old-style living, untouched by development. Hiking, biking and visiting historical buildings are the main attractions of the town.

Nestled in a fynbos-covered valley, 11 km from Gansbaai, is the rustic farm accommodation De Uijlenes. De Uijlenes is a working farm with two rustic farm houses available for self-catering accommodation. Each house is perched on the banks of its very own private dam with boats and ziplines.

Each house sleeps about 75 people so it is ideal for a large group of friends, family, team building or any celebrations. The Nonnetjie Uil House is a double-storey rustic lodge situated on its own private dam with views of the Uilkraal Vallei. The dam has a zipline and boats for fishing and swimming.

The Nightjar House is a thatch-roof farm cottage that was built by the Groenewald family over 150 years ago. Since then a large hall, kitchen, extra bathrooms and some stable rooms have been added. The house is lovely and cool in summer and toasty warm in winter with a fireplace. There are large trees on the grounds surrounding the house and hall, some as old as the Nightjar House, and the house is situated on a large and deep dam that has a zipline and boats for fishing.

The houses can be used for church, club events, seminars or conferences, school groups, birthdays or bachelor parties, or just a relaxing time with family or friends.

Other activities include hiking trails along the stream, tractor rides, horse cart rides and training grounds. We encourage feeding and brushing the animals, and fish can be caught and released in the dams.
