Herero Day is a vibrant festival held to honour the Herero people’s ancestors in Okahandja. It’s an awesome spectacle for those who line the streets to watch the procession of proud Herero’s in their traditional costumes. The women look impressive in brightly coloured Victorian-style dresses with elaborate headgear shaped like cattle horns, and the men wear khaki suits.
How do I get there? Okahandja lies on the B1, 70 kilometres north of Windhoek.
