Waterwoods has eight cottages and is situated on a farm just outside of Nottingham Road. They offer simple yet homely cottages where guests can enjoy the beautiful scenery in comfort.

The cottages are all equipped with electric blankets and either a heater or a fireplace for the snowy winter months. Except for one, the cottages are all self-catering with fully equipped kitchens and braai facilities. They are not equipped with TVs to ensure a real escape from the city and a transfer to country life.

The farm has 24-hour security to ensure your piece of mind. The farm boasts a dam, a river and a wooded hill that affords guests excellent opportunities for hiking and mountain biking.

The Midlands are a beautiful area with wonderful scenic drives and places to enjoy walks or cycling. The area is known for its fly fishing opportunities. The area is bustling with museums, health hydros and a micro-brewery.

We are a part of a trout and game estate where one can see many species of game such as zebra, black wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, blesbuck and impalas to name a few. Relax in one of the guest lounges or curl up with a book in front of a log fire on those cold and misty days while sipping gluhwein or sherry. On those hot days have cocktails on the patio overlookig the picturesque lakes. We offer a true home away from home experience with personal service.

We offer luxury en suite accommodation, all under traditional African thatch. We have large family rooms, twin rooms, a junior suite and a luxury honeymoon and executive suite. Rooms are heated and there are electric blankets and down duvets to ward off the winter chill. Magazines, TV and tea or coffee making facilities are provided to make our guest's stay more comfortable.

Visit the Midlands Meander which is South Africa's premier arts and crafts route. In close proximity you can play a round of golf from a selection of golf courses, go horse riding, abseiling, quad biking, hot air ballooning, clay pigeon shooting or try the Karkloof Canopy Tour that gives you a birds eye view of the forests below. Visit a cheese farm, wine estate, a health spar, a wellness centre or go picknicking. You could also visit the San Rock Art Centre and see original San drawings or go up the Sani Pass to the highest pub in Africa. The Zulu and Anglo Boer War Battlefields are an approximate 60 minute drive away.

Our rates include a full English breakfast and we also have an a la carte menu which is available for dinner as well as a light lunch menu. We are fully licensed and have a great pub and games room.

The Nature Reserve features five eco-systems, including indigenous forest, grassland, riverine, mountain and pine forest, showcasing the area's rich diversity of flowers, animals, and bird life. The nurturing environment has attracted the return of many of the species that once roamed the region, including oribi, rietbuck, bushbuck, bush pig, leopard, serval, caracal, baboon and eland.

This stretch of the Mooi River is highly regarded by fly-fishermen who enjoy challenging the Wild Brown Trout that have been here since the 1870’s, and there are also six well-stocked still water dams for the fisherman’s further enjoyment. Other activities include walking, mountain biking, and bird watching. The evenings are a time to relax on the terrace overlooking the river or in front of a roaring log fire in the cosy Ingwenya Pub. This can be followed with the enjoyment of fine country dining in our gracious dining room.

The climate of The Bend has year round attraction with distinct differences between the four seasons - the fresh green of spring, followed by lush summer, then mellow autumn with its rich colours, and finally the crisp winter days with the occasional excitement of snow.

Nottingham Road is a village easily accessed from the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban, only 20 minutes from the foothills of the Drakensberg. The landscape is beautiful, with green rolling hills, dotted with fly-fishing dams. Nottingham Road is also in the heart of the Midlands Meander route with its mix of arts and crafts and restaurants.

The cottage can sleep up to four guests and comprises two bedrooms and an open-plan, lounge dining room and kitchen. A choice of king-size or single beds in both bedrooms, all luxury extra length beds. The main en-suite is a full bathroom and the second en-suite with shower. Ceiling fans are fitted in both bedrooms.

The open-plan lounge and dining area is air-conditioned and features a TV with full DStv coverage, and a DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and includes a stove and oven, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle and all the necessary kitchen utensils. Wi-Fi internet access is available on request.

A lock-up garage is provided for one vehicle, and ample parking space is provided for your visitors. Notts Cottage is heated with heated towel rails, wall heaters and under-floor heating in the winter.

The patio features gas and wood burning barbecue facilities and offers the most wonderful view over the farmlands to Giant's Castle and the Central Drakensberg Mountains.

Otters Den welcomes you to our secluded self catering cottages, which are set in 18 acres of unspoilt countryside in the heart of the arts and crafts route of the Midlands Meander, near Nottingham Road in Kwazulu Natal.

We have four freestanding newly built thatched cottages: Chelsea, The Great Western, Ikhwela and Copper, each with a private balcony overlooking the Lions River. Each cottage is for two people and has an en suite bathroom with its own jacuzzi spa bath. Each self-catering cottage comes with a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, two plate stove, fridge/freezer, toaster, and Weber braai. There is also a dining and lounge area, table and chairs on the balcony as well as queen sized double bed and private carport. For cold nights all cottages have an electric fire and electric blanket with goose down duvets. All utensils, crockery and glasses are included and all linen and towels are supplied. Every cottage also comes with a welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, milk and delicious homemade biscuits.

We also have Copper Cottage which is our romantic open-plan honeymoon suite with its own private river view jacuzzi spa bath, situated at the foot of a queen-sized double bed.

There are five luxury, fully furnished cottages overlooking the scenic Mooi River. There is approximately 2 km of river frontage. We are conveniently situated near the main road with easy access to restaurants, pubs, golf courses, private schools and the Drakensburg.

Ideally situated, there is so much to do. One can tour the Meander, visit the Drakensburg Mountains, fish in our own river, do bird watching, enjoy short walks, visit the Weenen Game Reserve or simply just relax and enjoy the scenery.

We offer three cottages and two double bedrooms. All the units are fully equipped for self-catering and we provide cutlery and crockery. The views stretch over the dam and countryside, offering complete privacy. Braai facilities are also available at each unit.

The farm mainly offers fishing on a catch and release basis. Rod fees are applicable and day visitors are welcome. We sell flies and guides are available for coaching at an additional fee. Our fee to trout/bass fish is R175 per angler per day, or part thereof.

The sitting area includes a TV with local channels and the kitchenette is well-equipped for self-catering with a fridge, microwave, hot-pate, kettle and toaster. Tea and coffee is also provided.

The cabins are serviced daily, except on Sundays and Public Holidays. A fence and security gates surround the lawned garden, providing secure off-road parking.
