Get to Kirstenbosch when popular Blues Broers and Albert Frost come out to play
Spreading the word of the blues to all corners of South Africa, the Blues Broers have been entertaining keen audiences for over a decade. Their first gig in 1989 brought the blues sound to South Africa. From there they paved the way for numerous local blues bands, such as Delta Blue, Boulevard Blues Band, the BlueStones, Southern Blue as well influencing numerous prominent musicians, most notably Valiant Swart, Arno Carstens and Koos Kombuis.
Albert Frost was voted Best Blues Guitarist in South Africa by Stage Magazine, and not overlooking this man’s serious rock abilities, he’s proved that statement time and again. In 1994 Albert started playing alongside his father, the legendary Frank D Frost in the awesome blues band - Blues Broers. True highlights in his career include performing with The Rolling Stones in Spain, playing a show with Oscar winner Tim Robbins in the Blues Room and being part of the REM tour. He has also collaborated with double Grammy Award winning Malian legend, Ali Farka Toure, for an exclusive launch hosted by Thabo Mbeki.
Concerts take place at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on Sundays from 17:30 – 19:00. Gates open at 16:00. For further information and ticket prices, please telephone 021 799 8783/8620 or visit www.sanbi.org. Tickets can be booked on www.webtickets.co.za.
