Namaqualand with its flowers, the Richtersveld Desert Mountain wonderland and the Wild unspoiled West Coast are on the doorstep of this fully equipped holiday house overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Carmel Villa is a lovely guest house built in 1904 with a Victorian flair. It is situated in Calvinia and this attractive Karoo town lies in one of the largest wool-producing districts in South Africa - about halfway between Cape Town and Upington.

Situated on a farm close to Sutherland, guests will find Villa Rosa Guest House. Located near the main farm house, guests stay in a quaint wooden house with three bedrooms.

Rugged kloofs, high mountains and dramatic landscapes that sweep inland from the Orange River, divulge the fact that you are now in the vast mountain desert that is the Richtersveld National Park.

All the rooms are spacious with air-conditioners, DStv, en-suite bathrooms, private entrances, fridges and tea and coffee-making facilities. The self-catering units each have one bedroom containing a double and a single bed. The units have secure parking.

As if by magic, a tapestry of brilliant colours unfold enticingly along the winding roads of the Namaqua National Park.

This is a fully furnished flat situated on the beachfront. There are three double bedrooms; one with a double bed and two with twin beds.

Skurweberg offers a fully equipped guest house. The house has a kitchen, a TV room, four bedrooms and an outside braai area. There is a lovely fireplace in the house, as well as heaters and electric blankets.

Blydevooruitsig is a beautiful old stone guest house with all the modern facilities. Electric gates give you access to the property and there is a double garage with direct access to the house.

With a larger-than-life character, Jo’s Guest House and Hantamkraal Restaurant has become an institution in Calvinia.

Fiddlers Creek campsite is the base camp for Bushwhacked Outdoor Adventures. The campsite is located in Vioolsdrift, on the banks of the Orange River in Namaqualand.

7de Laan Guest House is located in Pofadder and offers you comfortable accommodation in this small Karoo town. The guest house also has a swimming pool and braai area available, as well as plenty of safe parking for trailers and caravans. We are pet friendly.

The house is a single-storey situated right on the beachfront. There is a spacious open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area, and the house has three lovely bedrooms.

Papkuilsfontein Guest Farm is a working veld management and flower conservation farm, offering three self-catering cottages.

Situated just outside Sutherland lies the Verlatenkoof Guest Farm. The farm offers simple yet comfortable accommodation in three cottages, as well as ample camping space. Come and experience the calmness and silence of the wonderful Karoo, where time seems to stand still.

What is essentially a fishing village today, Port Nolloth lies on the bay known by the indigenous Namaqualand people as “Aukwatowa”, it was the last landfall the Portuguese explorer Bartholomeu Dias sighted before he and his ship were blown off course and out to sea for 13 days.

Springbok Caravan Park is located just outside of town on the road to the airport and has campsites that include water and electricity. There is a pool and laundry service available as well.

These six guest houses are beautifully restored traditional sandstone buildings, typical of the architecture and stone masonry of Nieuwoudtville.
