Somerset Lodge is set in a gorgeous English country garden against a backdrop of magnificent mountains, and offers luxury accommodation at affordable prices. Our swimming pool, situated in its own secret garden, invites guests to relax and unwind, and is the perfect antidote to city stress.

We are situated a mere two minutes' walk from the Montagu Nature Garden, and our garden is visited by a large variety of bird species. Our rooms are tastefully decorated with every conceivable home comfort, and our linen is of the finest 100% cotton percale.

All our garden rooms are en-suite, equipped with selected DStv, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, a welcome tray with tea and coffee, and bar fridge. All rooms have private entrances and patios with braai facilities.

Rates quoted are on a Room Only basis, however breakfast is available upon request at an additional charge of R120. The full breakfast is served in our dining room, and includes fresh fruit in season, yoghurt, cereals, and fruit juice followed by eggs, bacon, sausages and tomatoes, or cold-meats and cheeses.

Montagu is the western gateway to the Little Karoo as well as the scenic heart of Route 62, the historic link between Cape Town, the Garden Route and Port Elizabeth, Addo Elephant Park. Montagu is about 2 hours drive from Cape Town It is the perfect stop for tourists traveling between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth is about 6 hours drive to the east.

A unique rural atmosphere distinguishes Montagu as one of the best kept late Victorian agricultural villages in the Western Cape. The many attractions and the fact that Montagu is centrally situated makes it a sought after tourist town and perfect base from where the countryside can be explored. There are a number of hiking trails in the area as well as opportunities for rock climbers. The hot springs just outside of town are very popular. Horse riding, golf, tennis, bowls and other sports can also be exercised.

In Abundance is a luxurious and modern house situated in the quiet and picturesque town of Montagu. The house offers accommodation in four guest rooms, ideal for holiday makers seeking a relaxing environment with views of the surrounding mountains.

The four guest rooms are each individually decorated and styled. The king-size or twin beds all have hand embroider cotton percale linen. In room facilities include air-conditioning, TVs, complimentary coffees, teas, snacks and filter water. An honesty bar filled with snacks and local wines are provided. Guest can enjoy free Wi-Fi and relax in the communal lounge with a selection of books, a wall mounted TV and a cosy fireplace for the cold winter months.

The main living are and some of the rooms lead out onto the large deck, with a 10 meter swimming pool and shaded patio with braai faculties.

African Game Lodge is a private conservation area outside Montagu in the Little Karoo, Western Cape dedicated to preserving the rich biodiversity of the area.

The lodge has traditional Karoo thatch chalets with log fires and private braais. Everything is provided, from towels, bath robes, bathroom toiletries, a tea and coffee tray and cleaning materials.

For a truly special back-to-nature experience you can book into a Private Tented Camp for a romantic time together. Full board and solar powered, the old style Leopard Bush Camp has a romantic four-poster bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Wake up to birdsong and sunshine on your balcony as you view the cheetah below.

The Honeymoon Hideaway-Caracal Bush Camp is privately situated in a special wilderness area, complete with sparkling dam. The main house and guest units were designed by the host's award-winning designer and daughter. Aasvoëlkrans is steeped in a tranquil Platteland atmosphere with the magnificent red sandstone rock formations of the Little Karoo as backdrop. Guests can choose from three guest units with large bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. All of the rooms are decorated to reflect the rustic ambience of the area. Situated in the Little Karoo, the town of Montagu is about 180 kilometers from Cape Town, and 200 kilometers from Oudtshoorn, the Little Karoo's ostrich capital. Outdoor activities in the area include visiting the hot springs, rock climbing or taking the popular tractor ride to the top of the Langeberg Mountains. The rates for children are R50 per person. Out of season you can enjoy a 20% discount on all tariffs. The rates for a single person depend on the occupancy at the time of booking.
Aasvoëlkrans is a stud farm, so it offers facilities of the outdoor kind. In summer, cool off in the private swimming pool, or go hiking in the mountains. There is plenty of sunshine in the large garden, and when the sun goes down, experience the romanticism of bright starry nights. The guest units each have a large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. All the bathrooms have showers as well. The units have single and double beds to choose from, as well as heated floors for the wintertime. All linen is 100% hand embroidered linen. The facilities can sleep six adults and four to five children. One of the rooms has a television. The luxurious en-suite bathrooms all have showers and are decorated with paintings and kelims. The main house has a spacious and comfortable lounge that guests can use. The bedrooms in the guest units have private, shady little stoeps where you can relax and enjoy drinks and conversation. The fresh farm air at Aasvoëlkrans will definitely give you an appetite. Guests can enjoy large, beautifully laden breakfasts in the dining room. If you have any specific preference, your hosts will happily cater for it. The town has many restaurants, such as the Wild Apricot Restaurant and Preston's Restaurant and Thomas Bain Pub (open seven days a week, 9am till late). Aasvoëlkrans offers a country atmosphere where you can relax among paddocks with Arab stud horses, and enjoy fresh mountain air. Even if you are not a wine lover, it is well worth visiting the wineries around Montagu, such as Uitvlucht, Rietrivier, Drie Berge and the Montagu Co-op Wine Cellar. Go and see the Thomas Bain Memorial Plaque and the old English Fort near the tunnel in Cogmans Kloof. Otherwise, take a stroll in town and visit the Town Museum and other historic houses. Your host is Jeanne Alston, a long-time resident of Montagu. She loves entertaining people and sharing their country home with local and overseas guests. Put on your ‘cozzie’ and head for the Montagu Hot Mineral Water Springs, one of the towns’ main tourist attractions. The springs are situated at Badskloof and the water is a steamy 43° Celsius. The mountainous area offers greast hiking routes, such as the Aasvoëlkrans Hiking route, which starts at the B&B. Other trails in the area include the Cogmans Kloof Trail and the Bloupunt Trail.
