Still evenings can be enjoyed around the braai as one watches the sweet swish of the quiet waters, as the local bird life settles down.

Lake Kariba's waters are studded with islands and fringed by mountains and forests; a sight not easily forgotten. The lake supports a large wild animal population along with spectacular bird life and deep yellow sunsets.

The Elephant Hills Resort boasts an 18-hole championship golf course designed by the legendary Gary Player. It is as popular with the wildlife as it is with golfers, as it is not uncommon for play to be interrupted while buck, warthogs or elephants exercise their right to walk on the fairways. This environmentally correctly-positioned luxury hilltop hotel, with its great solid structure, is sited by a trail that has seen the passage of countless elephants over thousands of years. It deliberately imposes itself on the surrounding riverine bush. Its tranquil evergreen setting on the upper Zambezi River belies the might of the Victoria Falls just three kilometres away.

Its luxury rooms, executive suites, deluxe suite and presidential suite are served by three restaurants and two bars, and the whole complex is expertly run by dedicated staff. Two tennis courts, two squash courts, a swimming pool, bowling greens are there for those who wish to keep fit and are frequently in use by the many guests attending conferences at the resort. After dinner, guests can enjoy a ‘flutter’ in the casino or chat with new friends in the Mapopoma Bar before curling up for that relaxing sleep only complete satisfaction and contentment can bring.

Elephant Hills Resort is a large hotel but exudes an intimacy often only found in small country inns. This majestic hotel, aptly named after the gentle giant of the bush, the elephant, merges seamlessly into its natural environment. The bedrooms range from the impressive presidential suite to cool and spacious standard rooms. All rooms are ethnically decorated creating a combination of African ambience with comfort and elegance. Each bedroom has modern amenities including air-conditioning, digital satellite television, bar fridge and en-suite bathroom. Each room has a private balcony; rooms in the west wing have an impressive view of the vastness of the Zambezi River. From the east wing guests are treated to views of the impressive golf course in the forefront and the Zambezi in the distance. From selected rooms guests enjoy the awe-inspiring view of the rising mist from The Victoria Falls. Rooms are surrounded by indoor, manmade waterfalls and lush greenery, bringing the rumble of The Victoria Falls within the very walls of the hotel.

The hotel offers a strong selection of facilities from dining, shopping, beauty therapy and touring facilities; making it a memorable leisure holiday resort. The hotel is a dream for the active sports enthusiasts and the nature lovers. On offer are a wide range of sporting facilities from tennis, golf, squash and bowls. The golf course is set in a truly natural environment which may lead you to think that for a moment, you have embarked on a nature safari surrounded by warthog, impala and sable all critically appraising your swing.
