It was interesting, nice place to be, even though the weather at that time was not good but we managed to enjoy. We were close to the beach, a walking distance, close to the mall in Margate. The only challenge was getting transport to Shaka Marine, it was far and had to use two taxis to get there although we enjoyed ourselves. The view was great, people were very welcoming when we asked for directions, and yes i will go back again should i decide to go back

This economic hub for the lower South Coast is geared for holiday makers and offers everything from cinemas, nightclubs, bars, restaurants and shops, to sun, surf, sea, lagoon, amusement parks and plenty of ice-cream and buckets and spades. At the centre of activity is the long, sandy, world class Blue Flag Margate Main Beach manned by lifeguards and shark nets, with its Olympic swimming pool, children's pool, bikes and pleasure craft for hire, amusement park and bustling flea market, all surrounded by cocktail bars and fish food restaurants.
Margate is a carefree, friendly and exciting town and popular seaside resort where all the action is happening for visitors and locals alike.
The newly rebuilt Margate pier is a popular fishing mecca and the Margate Country Club features superb greens in stunning scenery. School holidays see Margate beach abound with activities and concerts by big-name bands and is host to the annual Harley Davidson week as 180 000 motorcycling enthusiasts, including 20 000 plus motorcyclists, descend on the town.

Best place for me and my family to go for a well deserved rest . Friendly people and so many things to do. Got my first tattoo at Smileys. Margate has been our vacation destination for the last 8 years and if all goes well again this November or December. Best place we stayed was at Anchorage Margate.

Margate a sweet little town which i found to be absolutely peaceful. Its a town where everybody is not in a hurry to go places. there is no hustle and bustle and just the holiday I needed. The tranquility of the surroundings is all I needed at that time. People were so friendly and the place was so neat and tidy. The beach was beautiful and the town was also so neat. Variety of shops were found. What I liked most was the little curio shops at the beachfront and the restaurants. It was my first time at Margate and I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would definitely advice anybody to choose it as their holiday destination. We visited Wild Coast Sun which also not so far from Margate. Cheryl Naidoo Gauteng

Where do I start, Margate is a little town with lots and lots to offer.
We have a beautiful beach, with water sport, lots of places to eat, so you dont have to cook, our accommodation is affordable, we also have an olympic standard swimming pool on the beach.
There is so much to do, fishing, dancing, spa's, beauty salons, hairdressing salons, beautiful little boutiques.
Then we there are P&P's, Checkers, Shoprite, Spar's, everything that you have in your town, just a little smaller, but nicer.
We have hospitals, clinics and lots of doctors and dentist, so in case you get sick or something else goes wrong, we are prepared.
We care for our visitors, so please come and visit, see for yourself.

When we plan to go to Margate, I immediately visualise sipping a glass of wine on the balcony and enjoy the view of the endless ocean. The small kids play in the tidal pool (and the big ones) while the parents lie under the umbrella to avoid sunburn. People are strolling along the Golden Mile, some are jogging. I prefer to watch. Whales? At first I thought it was a jetski, but it was three whales. I could see them without using binoculars. That was October last year and Im told by the locals that they are visible for a few months up to November. In May this year, I was lucky enough to see a school of dolphins. All of this from the balcony. What else can I ask for? Wait, Im a coffee-aholic, so off the Beaver Creek, a few kilometers from Margate in the hills, a Coffee plantation with a wonderful coffee shop is found where you can taste the different coffees before you buy.
I dont go to Margate for shopping, I can do that at home. What I dont have at home is the view and the sound of breaking waves.

Margate in KZN (KwaZulu-Natal), lies along the Hibiscus Coast or the Golf Coast. It is perfect for an unhurried, unworried, sun-soaked, beach-bashing holiday. The many beaches are flanked by the ever-warm Indian Ocean and attract surfers, divers, fishermen and sunbathers likewise.
Also known as the Golf Coast, it's a golfer's paradise, with seven top 18-hole golf courses at your fingertips. Go hiking, deep-sea fishing, diving, angling, whale-, dolphin- or bird-watching, river rafting, abseiling, riding, play tennis or golf or try a microlite or light plane flip! Enjoy the nature and the abundance of bird and animal life at the various Nature Reserves and hiking trails nearby. Visit one of the many craft shops and art galleries. Dine out at night at one of the many restaurants and pubs close by or try your luck at the Wild Coast Sun Casino, only 32km away.

Sun, sea and blue sky! That is what I think of if I think of Margate. The temperature is lovely all through the year! Lovely and hot in summer and pleasantly mild in Winter. With a wide variety of restaurants in the vicinity you can eat at a different spot every day of the week. From deep sea fishing to whale and dolphin watching right on your front door to gambling at the nearby Wild Coast Sun, there is truly something for every one. There is two malls close by for the shopaholics and adventure sport for the adrenaline junkies at Oribi Gorge. There are different farms to visit near by like a coffee farm or a goat farm. Here you can try their specialities. The beaches are lovely and clean. A lovely stroll on Margate main beach, morning or evening, will take you're breath away. I love Margate for all the fun stuff there is for the whole to do!!

Margate is just a cool town, with lots of entertainment for the whole family. The Southern Explorer handbook had valuable information and we applaud the South Coast Tourism for this.

During the September period, this location is very relaxed. There is very little noise and the beach scenery is beautiful.
