Mahe Travel Guide

Mahe September 2014 - Mahe is worth a stop over but I personally would not stay long (max 2 nights). The beaches are tiny and dispersed, you definitely need a car to explore the island and have freedom to up-and-go when you please. We found a wonderful large stretch of beach at Beau Vallon and would recommend to rather stay in this area (West Coast and we were on the East Coast). The island was very expensive, even more so than Praslin. Some of the restaurants and take-away places were just completely unreasonably, unexplainably expensive. There are cheaper shops in Victoria if you are self-catering like the STC. The people on all the islands we visited were consistently friendly, welcoming and accommodating.
