Lewa House is located in the very heart of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. This small, owner-run lodge offers unique access to all corners of this world-renowned conservation area. Perched on the crest of a hill, Lewa House looks out over a range of ecosystems that make up the protected area and offers excellent access to all aspects of this rich wildlife arena. Through a range of authentic activities, guests are able to unlock and understand what is being achieved here.

The cottage-style rooms are spread out along the hillside, all looking to the expanse of wilderness to the north. There are three family-style rustic cottages, each comprising of two elegantly furnished en-suite rooms and a large shared verandah. The cottages are built with sustainable, ecological principles in mind whilst being exceptionally comfortable and spacious, with wonderful views across the surrounding landscape.

The central area is a large elegant building with an open fireplace at one end where guests can relax during the day and mingle with a drink before dinner, and at the other end is a large family dining table where evening meals are served. There is also a large shaded veranda extending away from the main lodge with a comfortable seating area from which you can enjoy a cool afternoon drink and soak in the very special atmosphere of Lewa House.

Beautiful shaded gardens surround the lodge and breakfast or lunch is often served on the lawn. The lodge also has a large swimming pool which overlooks a waterhole, often providing some of the best game-viewing on Lewa.

Lewa House offers a diverse range of activities, including game drives, game walks, horse riding, camel rides, cultural trips to the local Ngwesi Village, and scenic biplane flights.

Lewa Wilderness is one of Kenya’s oldest private safari experiences. For forty years, guests have been coming to this remarkable region to be part of an adventure like no other. Those four decades have seen that passion passed down through the Craig family who proudly continue to run Lewa Wilderness today.

Lewa Wilderness is one of the original family homes and is still home to Will and Emma Craig. Guests can relax by the fire in the cosy sitting room and share meals around a long banquet table in the open-air dining room. Natural springs, home-raised livestock, and a five-acre organic garden are transformed by skilled chefs into incredible, healthy and delicious food.

There are just nine exclusive rooms; five are Hill Rooms looking down the Lewa’s Western Marania Valley, while the other four are Garden Rooms on the lush lawn adjacent to the main living areas. All feature a sitting room area with a well-stocked bar and open log fireplace for our frequent cool nights, as well as spacious en-suite facilities.

The Garden Rooms at Lewa Wilderness are nearest the main areas and are built in pairs, with private en-suite facilities and a shared veranda and sitting room. The layout of these rooms is ideal for a family or those who do not want to walk too far as they are nearer the main facilities. The rooms are flanked and fronted by well-kept lawns which give families that extra outdoor space to use. There is a view down to the bush pool and onto the Lewa Wilderness valley beyond. The Garden Rooms were built to cater for families and remain very close to the heart of everything that happens here.

The Hill Rooms have been added most recently to take advantage of the stunning northerly views from Lewa. On a clear day, which is most days, the view stretches away giving a true perspective of just how remote this setting is. Each room is quite different in its layout and sleeping configuration and takes advantage of the uneven hillside to form unusual shapes which load them with character. Every room also features en-suite facilities and its own private sitting area, bar and veranda.

Activities include horse riding, walking with the Masai, game drives, scenic flights, camel rides, cultural visits to local communities, farm and craft tours, visits to the local school, prehistoric sites, tennis, and swimming in the horizon saltwater swimming pool overlooking the ravine. A private ranch, a private house and a private paradise; that is Lewa Wilderness.

Lewa Safari Camp has a stunning location within the wildlife and rhino conservancy. There are outstanding game viewing opportunities from the camp as well as views of Mount Kenya to the south and the arid lowlands to the north.

Each tent has a thatched roof, a verandah and a full en-suite bathroom which is very much in the Lewa-style. The central areas have exquisite gardens with a sunny verandah and a swimming pool to enjoy during the day. Cosy log fires can be found in the lounge and dining room during the chilly evenings.

The camp is based within the private 65,000-acre wildlife conservancy of the Lewa Wilderness Trust. The conservancy is home to about 10 percent of Kenya's black rhino population, and the single largest population of grevy's zebra in the world. Lewa re-invests all the profits generated from tourism into its core programmes. When you visit Lewa, you will help thousands of people from different backgrounds and cultures to improve their lives and give their children a future, while at the same time ensuring Africa's wildlife has a stable home.

Tassia Lodge captures all elements of the Kenyan bush and is an ideal escape for those searching for a taste of an unspoiled Africa. Tassia Lodge is set in a stunning wilderness area, situated on the 60,000 acre Lekurruki Community Ranch. It gives a spectacular and breathtaking view of the Northern Frontier District towards Samburu, and neighbours Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Borana.

Tassia is perched dramatically on the edge of a rocky bluff, which protrudes from the Mokogodo escarpment and overlooks a valley filled with acacia and newtonia trees. Staying at Tassia means removing yourself from the world as you know it, whether walking through the bush or scrambling up to caves where the Maasai used to live, you will not meet another car or tourist.

There are six spacious rooms, which can be adapted for families. Each banda bungalow is unique and all are en suite with a loo and a shower. The side of the room facing the view is completely open giving an unobstructed view of the wilderness and wildlife below. Other features of the lodge include a horizon swimming pool, a dining room, a bar, a ‘chill out area’, and deck area. The shop provides you with an eclectic mix of jewellery and clothes from talented Kenyan artisans.

Antonia, one of your hosts, is a Leith's trained chef and creates exciting sumptuous food. The food is an exotic mixture of African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines, using home-grown, organic ingredients.
