We always enjoy going to Langebaan. The restaurant we had our supper at was disappointing (food), but we had a wonderful breakfast at "Perles" (? not sure about the restaurant's name, but it was overlooking the beach.

Langebaan reminds me of bygone days. Friendliness of locals is something to behold. The town is bashful yet peaceful. Relaxing turqoise waters amongst a back drop of semi desert land scapes. A bespoke National Park. Our own heaven on earth and that of Greek gods. White washed beach cottages with views of swaying boats on the lagoon. Crystal blue skies painted with neon colors of kites. Lazy sun filled days, extended day light to enjoy with good Western Coast wine and fresh fish braais. People having a good time, all round.

Hi. Except for the problem with the shower at the unit we were booking in and missing our Breakfast because of it, we still love Mykonos and Langebaan and it will not be the last time we go there for a weekend getaway. Regards, Minca

Whether the sun is shining or the winter rains are falling, Langebaan is the perfect place to be to unwind and relax anytime of the year. The cold winter is trumped by the good red wine next to the fireplace at a local tavern. The restaurant and food availability will please all visitors, so vast is its offering. The summer brings with it the beach, sea and all its wonderful adventures. Autumn and Spring fit into the middle of the other 2 extremes, but in Langebaan, the only difference you experience is the weather. Langebaan is Langebaan 365 days of the year.

We have been going to Langebaan for the past 4 years, and I am hooked. Such beauty and tranquility I have never seen in South Africa. When you pass through town on the way to the nature reserve and you come around the corner, you get this breathtaking view of the lagoon and all the kitesurfers. There is NOTHING more beautiful than that. The accommodation in Langebaan is the best and there is such a wide variety to choose from. Our alltime favourite restaurant must be driftwood on the beachfront. We had a jug called, "jungle juice" and it was delicious! Just a couple of km's away is the beautiful Mykonos resort. Our stay there in 2011 was unforgettable. Our villa was situated on top of the greek restaurant and that night we feld like a good SA Braai, and the manager offered a table in the restaurant AND their braai facilities. Service par excellance!!! I will go back and back and back to this little piece of heaven called Langebaan.

Langebaan personifies the saying "Afrika is nie vir sissies nie". It has the West Coast roughness and every luxury you could wish for. Between the lagoon, Kraalbaai, fantastic restaurants and even a few houseboats to really relax on, this is a fantastic place to wind down and forget the stresses of city life. Wether you are an adrenaline junkie (kite surfing) or a food junkie (strandloper) or just need a rest (beach and spa) there is something for you!

'n Ongelooflike plek om tot rus te kom. Die ideale plek om te "unclutter". Die oppervlakkige eenvoud van die natuur wat op nader inspeksie die mooiste mooi en juweeltjies voortbring. Langebaan met sy sonsondergange het my hart gesteel.

Thinking of Langebaan brings to mind almost 20 years of fantastic holidays over long weekends, Easter and December holidays. My dad knew nothing about this place called "Langebaan" and boating until he took part in a work sporting event of fishing and we arrived in Langebaan at about 22h00 one evening to walk into the most quaint beach house right on the beach front. ever since then we've had caravan holidays, where my cousins and I wondered the streets at night walking and laughing because it was so safe. we've had boat after boat, hobbie cat and probably stayed in most of the houses in Langebaan that were for rent. Club Mykonos was my cousin and I's hive of excitement, the old typical ways of the residents and just eh friendly manner in which everyone who was in Langebaan respected others in every aspect of ensuring everyone enjoyed their holiday. Bottle stores stocked up, the Spar became the best thing to Langebaan with smells of fresh baked breads and smiling faces no matter the time of day. Pearlys restaurant on the beach became the first place to visit once you arrived in Langebaan and unpacked at the house, you would shoot down to Pearlys for a half pint Peroni beer and their awesome feta garlice pita bread and soak up the vibe and breath in the fresh sea air to kick start your break away. My childhood days are filled with precious tanning and skiing days at the most beautiful beach in the world, Kraalbaai - past Churhaven. Learning to ski, tube rides and filled tupperware dishes of the previous nights left over braai or freshly made rolls, kept us busy till past 18h00 some days as the sun set on the Lagoon. Fishing expeditions were the boys favourtie - who caught the most or caught a shark! I nearly died on a hobbie cat just to the left of the island but my father (my hero) saved me from the tangled ropes around my neck laying floating under the sails. And once he had to pull me out the water with one arm while steering the hobbie cat with the other, nearly ripping his arm out his shoulder socket, but he wouldn't let his little girl lay bobbying in the lagoon. I have tons of stories and could go on forever and ever about the fantastic Municipal bungalows that were built and the great improvements that I've witnessed over the years. My word, our late night walks along the beach front with not a breath of wind blowing, my driving lessons on the beach front parking area which is now developed up into holidays flats. Langebaan - my home, holiday away from home! Langebaan - my peaceful, serenity of out door activity for my two beautiful girls now.... Go there, you'll never look back. Sharlene Graham

This beautiful little town on the shores of the idylic Langebaan Lagoon is an unrivaled getaway for all. It is surrounded by natural beauty and in Spring it really reveals itself in it's glory with a breathtaking showcase of wild flowers, coupled with the stunning lagoon, and sea amid mountain vistas; this really is paradise on earth. Restaurants, shops and accommodation are varied, plentiful and offer both value and quality. Sportslovers are spoilt for choice, from the wind and water sports on the lagoon to cycling, hiking and trail running on the surrounding shores there is something on offer for everyone. Top it with features such as the gem which is the West Coast National Park, golf course, casino and the iconic west coast experience of an open-air seafoood restaurant on the beach and you have it all. Langebaan rocks, but shh, don't tell too many people 'cos we want to keep it our little secret!

Langebaan is beautifull all year round. In summer you can do a wide range of water activities. You can go from the beach to a restuarant and enjoy great refreshments for young and old. In couple of minutes you can go shopping or visit the greek style Club Mykonos. About 15 minutes drive we have our very own game drive park. You will never even think you are in the west coast. Children can play without any fear. The locals are friendly and always eager to help or give a hand. No matter where I go, I still think that Langebaan is the best tranquil retreat.

Once a tiny fishing village, now a relatively tourism hub. So much to see and do, in a laid-back way. Start at the central tourism bureau for an area overview. Three things must 'do'; world famous, Die Strandloper restaurant, on the beach; Club Mykonos - pseudo Greece, in Africa; and the West Coast National Park.

Langebaan lagoon is a weekend getaway near Cape Town. If Langebaan were a cocktail, it would be blue curacao on speed. Icy, refreshing Langebaan Lagoon is an hour and half north of Cape Town and a popular weekend or short getaway destination in South Africa for watersport fanatics and nature lovers. Whether you're crazy about kitesurfing or sailing, or want to track down and photograph the famous pink flamingos, you should definitely consider hiring a self catering beach cottage and just spending a few days chilling out at Langebaan Lagoon. The ideal all-year-round resort. Nature lovers from all over the world come to view the more than 300 species of birds found in the protected lagoon waters of the West Coast National Park, as well as the masses of spring flowers from July to September.

Langebaan is short drive from Cape Town along an excellent tar road. Once you arrive, you are greeted by the impossibly blue waters of the Langebaan Lagoon and the holiday mood kicks in immediately. The town itself is rather sprawling and unattractive but if you book accommodation on or near the water, you won't even notice that! The crystal clear lagoon water is much warmer than the nearby Atlantic ocean and it gets warmer the further in you venture. Apart from the usual watersports options, Langebaan is an excellent spot for kids, espsically if you go donw to one of the protected bays such as Sandbaai - rocks pools, shallow water with no waves, fish to be caught...The nearby national park is also great with cucling tracks and large predators so you can walk and ride without fear. There are also great outings with a fossil and archaeology focus, from the West Coast Fossil park to the interesting early history of the area.

Our highlights were birdwatching in West Coast National Park, a very impressive guided tour of the Fossil Park, magical swimming in the lagoon at Kraalbaai, watching the kitesurfers, and the most delicious fresh seafood feast at Driftwoods restaurant on the edge of the lagoon. We found the national park out of flower season quite drab with few animals to see, and the local drivers in the town quite dangerous - lots of speeding at night! We'll be back!

There is so much more to see and do in and around Langebaan than one first suspects. From walks around the beautiful lagoon and over the dunes, Club Mykonos, to the unique experience of eating at the Strandloper beach restaurant; to mention just a few. The West Coast Nature Reserve and Fossil Park are within easy reach and so are many other little towns around the coast.

A very popular seaside location for summer holidays. Swim in the warm lagoon or take a leisure ride on a boat. Enjoy this great fishing location by day and add some glam by gambling the night away at the famous Club Mykonos.

Langebaan has managed to retain its laid-back West Coast vibe despite tarred roads and expensive mansions. On windy days, and there are many, brightly coloured kites, windsurfers and hobie cats decorate the intoxicating blue lagoon. Spring is my favourite season here, with the heady scent and sight of wildflowers.

Langebaan is an amazing little town right on a vast lagoon. It's almost unbelievably great for windsurfing and kite boarding. If you are looking for a good spot to learn, try Shark Bay to the south. Otherwise, Cape Sports do equipment rentals and lessons and is also a good place to sail from. The lagoon is beautiful with amazing views, and the town has lots of good restaurants, bars and the unmissable Flamingo's for a night on the tiles.
