Twiga Lodge and Campsite is a conveniently short one and a half hours drive on excellent tarmac from Arusha, and is the ideal choice whether you are returning from safari or just setting out on your Tanzanian adventure.

The large bar and restaurant offers a delectable choice of international cuisine, buffets and barbecues as well as a choice of beverages and poolside snacks. Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp is one of the most desired of the luxury camps in Northern Tanzania, where the popular Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Manyara game reserves are located. The name ‘Manyara’ comes from the Masaai word ‘emanyara’ which is a euphorbia species of plant grown in a particular area. Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp is set in the exclusive wilderness surrounded by rugged hills of the rift valley escarpment. The camp lies in a gentle plain slope against a backdrop of brushwood hills.

The camp operates throughout the year, including the best period for wildlife spotting as well as bird-watching. On arrival, guests are taken by a four-wheel drive vehicle to a rough pathway, experiencing the safari itself to the camp. The entrance to the camp is via a pathway that leads through the lounge area, opening onto views of the fringes of the Hills and the Lake Manyara, which are within the grounds of Manyara National Park.

Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp offers accommodation in authentic tents and cottages, complete with modern necessities, located in the most enchanting wilderness and beauty within the view the National Park and Lake Manyara. The dining area is softly-lit by lamps and serves continental classics and contemporary Indian and traditional dishes with vegetables and herbs grown from the local villages.

All the tents face the lake and are constantly cooled by the breeze from the lake. Guests are treated to beautiful sunrises, while in the evening they may enjoy sundowners on the lakeshore. The area is frequented by elephants, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and even lions which are sometimes attracted by the seasonal waterhole in front of the campfire.

The traditional seasonal safari camp is supremely comfortable and blends into the surroundings. Each spacious tent is fitted with large single- or king-size beds with warm duvets, wooden flooring with rugs, 24-hour solar lighting, and en-suite bathrooms with dressing areas, flush toilets and great safari showers. The mess tent is beautifully furnished with grand sofas, lamps, bookshelves and corner cabinets in old wood, chests and rugs.

It is believed that Lemala Manyara has one of the most beautiful spots on the northern circuit. Apart from its spectacular natural setting, the park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the vast elephant families it was established to protect. The shores of the lake, encrusted with pink flamingo, attract more than 400 species of birds, many of them waterfowl or migrants. Large herds of buffalo, cheetah, Masai giraffe and impala roam the lake’s shores and the forested valley slopes. Troops of several hundred olive baboon appear alongside Sykes monkey and short-eared galago. Cape clawless otter, Egyptian mongoose, hippo and klipspringer are other park residents.

Set in the heart of a mahogany forest, &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only permanent lodge in the park of the same name. Designed to exert minimal impact on the environment, the lodge is situated in the park’s south-western region. Guests are offered an exclusive interpretive safari in a remote, game-rich wilderness.
