Royal Thonga Safari Lodge is the culmination of a dream of the local Tembe community and private investors to create a natural paradise for visitors to this unique reserve. The lodge is architecturally designed to emulate the local Tonga building style, and each of the fourteen chalets is uniquely positioned to offer guests total privacy and luxurious comfort within a sand forest in Tembe Elephant Park.

Natural materials and timber give a warm organic ambience and invite the outdoors in; all rooms are appointed with quality furnishings, and bathrooms come complete with an indoor and private outdoor shower for those whom enjoy immersing themselves in their surroundings in rare solitude and perfect tranquillity.

A comfortable three and a half hour’s drive from King Shaka International Airport, and on the doorstep of Southern Mozambique’s decadent beaches, Tembe Elephant Park is renowned as a unique and unforgettable location, and one of the few remaining wilderness areas in Southern Africa. This Big 5 reserve, set in an area of sand forests, pans and wetlands in northern Thongaland, falls within a transition area between tropical and sub-tropical forms, and is therefore home to a great diversity of vegetation; with this diversity of habitats Tembe is home to a spectacular variety of animals and birds.

The eHlatini restaurant at Masizwane Lodge focuses on creating innovative and delicious meals by combining traditional European-style cuisine infused with a local twist, and avails of a fully stocked wine cellar offering fine South African wines.

The main lodge building houses the restaurant and a comfortable lounge area, where guests can sit back and enjoy a chilled glass of wine while watching birds flocking to the birdbath in front of the lounge deck, or just relax after a long day’s activities. The restaurant serves al fresco lunches and set dinners, either seated in the restaurant or in the Boma area under a million African stars. Fine meals are prepared with fresh ingredients, and are often infused with local flavours to create unique and tantalizing dishes. The reception area avails of a fully stocked curio shop, displaying goods and handmade artefacts which are produced by the local communities.

The Bulwer Mountain Park Hotel is a unique resort offering various activities to occupy the whole family. Facilities at the resort include a swimming pool, tennis court, squash, bowling green, volley ball, bass fishing and horse riding adventures. There are also guided walks to waterfalls, and natural forests in the surrounding area.

This is no ordinary hotel. It is very different with its creaking floors, crooked doors, low ceilings and unusual ambiance attributed to the several ghostly characters said to reside on the property. In fact Bulwer Mountain Park Hotel is truly one of the few genuinely haunted hotels in the country.

The hotel's décor will transport you back in time. Built in 1940, it has all the charm and grace of old homestead with authentic blackwood beams, high ceilings, ancient broadswords and battle-axes brought from England and Spain. The attractive cellar tavern is the perfect place for a pub lunch or game of darts. After dinner guests can settle down and relax in the comfort of their own luxurious rooms.

So we provide you with a dedicated wedding co-ordinator, and a selection of fun, interactive tools to help you plan your perfect wedding. Everything you need to make sure you have every detail covered and the peace of mind to relax and enjoy your big day.

Some include things many other venues don’t, like photographer, accommodation for your guests, your wedding cake, and more. Contact us to book a viewing and we can go through the packages with you, so you can pick the one best suited to your dream and budget.

Lythwood Conferences (or Conference Venue):
For a conference to be a roaring success, the planning must be spot on.

One thing you know about planning a conference, is that the venue you choose is key to the success of a conference. You can have everything organised, right down to the last dotted ‘i’ and crossed ‘t’. If the conference venue doesn't come to the party, you're the one left putting out fires. Organising a country conference is even trickier; you don't have all the ‘Plan B’ options available to you, as you do in the city.

You see, having a great venue, that cooks delicious food, has a spacious conference hall and break-away rooms, luxury accommodation, team-building opportunities, and gives you top-notch service is par for the course. It's what you expect from an award winning conference venue.

At Lythwood, you can expect us to get all those details right.

It's all the ‘small’ things, that often have very little to do with your conference venue, that make a big difference to your conference outcomes. This is where you'll find that Lythwood truly goes the extra mile to ensure your conference is as you planned it. When you appoint Lythwood as your conference venue, pick up the phone or email us and you can consider it done. If there are a lot of suppliers involved, if needed, you can also make use of our sophisticated online event planning software—at no extra charge. That way, all the supplier communication with Lythwood is in one place for you to track and manage,

We’ve laboured long and hard to make sure you don’t have to. You can be sure you'll have everything at your fingertips to help you plan a successful conference, that meets your objectives.

Team Building; Karkloof Canopy Tours, the best mountain biking trails in the country, and all manner of great spots for team building are close at hand. Your choice of Lythwood will facilitate your client getting their message across in a truly unforgettable way.
