Nice little town. Certain parts of Komatipoort are nice. Maybe a little clean up would do the town some good.

Komatipoort is an important border town with Mozambique. It is well situated for the Border Post about 5 km east of the town. The town lies among large sugarcane farms and amidst subtropical orchards.

Our experience at Komatipoort was awesome,to hear the hippo’s from our room was one big thrill, and next time I will plan to arrive at my sleepover-place earlier to explore the place in daylight. You helped making this a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us.

Komatipoort, found in the province of Mpumalanga, The Place Where The Sun Rises, the eastern lowveld region of South Africa, affords you some of the most spectacular scenery and vistas of Africa to be found.
The Komatipoort area has two major rivers, the Crocodile and Komati Rivers, meandering through, with a large variety of aquatic wildlife. These rivers offer fantastic sporting opportunities in the form of Tiger fishing. The area also offers activities such as hot air ballooning, micro-light flying, elephant back safaris and horse riding.
Not far from the Komatipoort area is the world famous Kruger Park, a kingdom for animals, bigger than some countries, is a haven for a wide variety of wildlife. Enjoy the privilege of interacting with fauna and flora big and small. A short drive will bring you to the Blyde River Canyon, with attractions such as God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and Three Rondawels.
Komatipoort is an ideal starting and finishing point for your African adventure, where Nature’s secrets lie within reach. We are a stones throw from Swaziland, a land filled with friendly faces and colourful people, and alive with culture and crafts, is a hospitable nation where all are made welcome. And Mozambique, the coastal gem of Africa, bearing scars of war, yet the beauty remains and shines through all. Vibrant and diverse, a definite must for visitors. We are an excellent place for travellers to meet up and team up to continue their journey. Come and join us!

We have just been to Ngwenya Lodge which is very close to Komatipoort. We had a great time, as it is very close to the Crocodile Bridge gate of the Kruger National Park. On our visits to the park via the road to Lower Sabi and up to Skukuza we saw the big 5 twice in a matter of 5 days. We also saw numerous other species game and birds. Komatipoort also has a very nice Spar for all the shopping needs. It also has a great 9 hole golf course on the banks of the Crcodile River if one gets tired of game viewing. Ther are also some nice restaurants where one can enjoy seafood from nearby Mozambique. Day trips can also be arranged to Mozambique or Swaziland. This is a great place for a short getaway - only 5 hours drive from Johannesburg.

Komatipoort is a small town. At night the restaurants were all closed so we were unable to experience the town at night over the Easter Weekend.

Komatipoort is just 8 km from the game-rich Crocodiile Bridge Gate into the Kruger Park and on the borders of Swaziland and Mozambique. Golf, fishing, microlight flights, quad biking and elephant back safaris are all available locally. The town is quiet and tree lined with a small shopping centre and a couple of decent restaurants. The accommodation is varied, including backpackers, budget and mid-market. There are hundreds of reasons to spend a few days in Komatipoort!
