This must be paradise! Knysna is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. A shame we only booked for three nights. Will definitely go back there again. Plenty to do and see and also a good place just to chill.

Knysna was a great break from my normal routine. Some restaurants are geared for international tourists and price themselves out the market for local South Africans.

Always a pleasant picturesque town to visit, having been here numerous times before.

My family really enjoyed Knynsa area .took John Benn to Knynsa heads and went out every day to other locations in the area.

Terrific view from The Heads, pleasant to walk in Lagoon area, safe, quite and other tourist attractions like Plett, Natures Valley, Buffey Baai etc are very close. We extended our stay from 2 to 3 days to relax. For Indians traveling to Knysna do not miss the only Indian restaurant on the main street. It is nice.

Knysna has been a love of mine since childhood - it is the most beautiful town in all of South Africa. There is just something about the place - I can't quite put my finger on it. Going to Knysna is always a treat.

One of the most beautiful places in South Africa. Definitely a must see for anyone visiting South Africa, one has to see it to believe it. If just driving past Knysna can be a beautiful experience, you can imagine how it would be to take time and have fun at what Kynsna offers. For us, we could manage just 2 days at Knysna and we relished it....

The restaurants in Knysna serve delicious food, the Heads was my favourite destination, its beautiful there. The elephant park is a must visit.

Knysna - what an experience! Probably one of the best Christmas holidays we as a family ever had. Fantastic town, excellent vibe, excellent restaurants, shops, amazing people etc etc. Also plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas as well. Unfortunate experience, however, with accommodation venue (your records will show correspondence in this regard). In the end, what impressed me most about our Knysna experience? I've never been on a holiday ever. My dad decided it's time to change that and I look for a place in Knysna(as I heard it's the most beautifullest place ever). There is so much to do,things t see. We didn't get round to everything because we only went for a few days,but it was the best days of my life. I surely will went to Knysna again soon. The people is very nice and the place himself. The waterfront and the Harkerville forest was 2 of the amazing places I saw and oh yes the Elephants @ the Elephant park.

Knysna is paradise on earth...offering such a diversity in vegetation from the forests to the lagoon, open skies and village atmosphere. One of my all time favourite holiday destinations and somewhere everyone would want to retire! Watersports abound, loads of great restaurants, families and friends can only be happy in this gorgeous patch of Africa.

Knaysna is an obsolute wonderous place for a newly wed couple to enjoy the start of their life together. We spent our honeymoon at Cliff Hanger cottages, located in a the Rheenendal cliffs before entering Knysna. The views from there were amazing and you also get the view of the waterfront area and the lagoon. There are many activities and places to visit while there to fit with every type of personality. From hikes, bird watching, shopping, wooden crafts, wild birds of prey and elephant santuaries to mention a few. Most definately peaceful and restful destination that I would recommend to anybody. Even if it isn't a honeymoon and only a vacation. Most definatley a part of africa at its best!

Knysna is a lovely place 2 stay and I would go there again it was very nice there was a lot 2 do the boat drive 2 knysna heads was lovely would recommend knysna 2 all my friends

We had the chance to enjoy a beautiful sunset cruise with local beer. Family from overseas loved it.

Knysna is perfectly situated for you to explore the Garden Route, also to take advantage of the many recreational features Knysna has to offer, notably golf, watersports, forest walks, boat trips on the Lagoon etc.

The best of Everything! Knysna offers the best of everything. whether you want a laid back, chilled holiday or a fun filled break, Knysna can be whatever you want. Scenic drives amongst the mountains and forests around Rheenendal, Bibi's Hoek and the Phantom Pass. Hikes in the forest. the Daleen Matthee trail and from the Picnic Spot at Jubilee Creek are just something out of this world. The primordial indigenous forest, the haze rising from the river, the cool, quiet calm restores your soul.. Then there's the vibrant waterfront with snazzy boutiques and a large variety of restaurants. Take a drive to the Heads and walk to the look out points at sunset...it will take your breath away! Fun on the lagoon with day boat trips and fishing in the lakes around Sedgefield for the fishing enthusiast who wants to catch a really nice Grunter or Kob. The history of Knysna is interesting, to say the least. Visit Belvidere and the old Church and graveyard where lie the relatives of the legendary George Rex. the grave of George Rex himself is on the way to the Heads. the Old Gold Mine at Jubilee Creek is mysterious and the tea shoppe on the way makes the best scones this side of the equator! A walk along the beach at Brenton on Sea in the morning will invigorate you and the appetite you work up will be more than satisfied at one of the many eateries along the way. Knysna is undoubtedly my favourite place to visit either on the way up the coast or just to go there for a break from the hustle of the City.

Travelling eastwards on the N2 you cruise downhill from Rheenendahl and cross the White Bridge straddling the Knysna River and hit the newly upgraded Lagoon Road, although, in geographical terms, Knysna has an estuary, not a lagoon. Everybody coming from the west travels along Lagoon Road. You wind gently between towering rockface on your left and fresh clean water on your right and soon reach the Red Bridge which takes you across the Salt River bringing into full uninterrupted view Knysna Heads. The rockface changed a little way back to rolling treed hills spotted with white houses on large properties, all enjoying the magnificent view of the Lagoon and Heads. On one of these hills back from the busy Lagoon Road is Paradise. The quiet spacious suburb is within walking distance of Knysna town and the Waterfront, with their variety of restaurants and shops, midway between Brenton and Noetzie beaches, and ten minutes from Leisure Isle’s children’s beach which is popular with adults. You can glimpse Pezula, with its hotel and golf course, the old Knysna Golf Course, and running alongside Salt River is the Old Cape Road which takes you to Nicklaus-designed Simola Golf Course and hotel. When the tide is out and between the many white-sailed yachts, there are green and brown islands in the lagoon and oyster farms are visible. An estate agent hammering in a guiding post was heard to exclaim: “I love Paradise.”

I am in love with Knysna, the prettiest town in South Africa. Knysna’s personality is the sum of many things but the most important is the warm heart of her citizens and her natural splendour. None can deny the beauty of a low-tide walk from Brenton-On-Lake to the Western Head where, along the way, you delight in storks, cormorants, Egyptian geese and small beaches with their own identities offering a unique view of the Knysna Waterfront, Thesen Island and Leisure Island. Summer sundowners at Bollard Bay, clambering the ragged rocks of Coney Glen, riding a boat on Knysna Estuary, sand in my toes at Gericke’s Point or Buffalo Bay, watching fish jump out of the river in Sedgefield, pastoral wonders on the 7 Passes Road, the Outeniqua Mountains peering like grandfather down on Karatara and fresh water lakes, buck at Featherbed and startlingly beautiful (yet shy) Loerie birds red-winging between the trees in search of yellow berries make Knysna almost fantasy, a setting for an Enid Blyton adventure or a playground for Harry Potter and his friends. Knysna's made painters, musicians and retirees plant their roots here. She made me transform my holiday into a home. She is my lover, mother, friend and confidant. Knysna, without doubt is South Africa’s best kept secret. It is listed in ‘the top 100 places‘ in the world to visit....This quaint, bustling tourist town is home to a huge indigenous population of people of all ages, creeds & cultures. It lies nestled on the main N2 garden route, 500km from Cape Town between George & Plettenberg Bay. Knysna is steeped in history, dating back to 1804. George Rex, a timber merchant bought a farm & started a thriving timber business, making use of the indigenous yellow-wood & stinkwood trees to be found in the forest. In 1876 gold was discovered in the forest, this in turn bought people flocking to the Millwood mines hoping to dig for their fortunes. The time spent in Knysna was very good. We loved leisure Island, and we enjoyed the walk to the Heads. Town has all the shop you need.

The name Knysna is a Khoi word but it’s uncertain as to its exact meaning. It could mean place of wood, or it could mean fern leaves, but its most probable meaning is straight down - an obvious reference to the Heads. Knysna Heads must be the most striking geological features along the entire southern African coastline. They flank a deep but potentially treacherous channel through which the sea pours in to flood the wide and breathtakingly pretty lagoon at the mouth of the Knysna River. Knysna’s history began in the year 1804, the year that saw the arrival of George Rex, rumoured to be the illegitimate son of King George lll. He purchased the estate known as Melkhoutkraal on the shores of the lagoon and moved his entire family and considerable entourage down to Knysna to settle. Knysna is one of the Southern Cape coasts best known holiday destinations, situated between lush forests.

Beautiful scenery and an attractive waterfront with restaurants.

There are a lot of nice places to visit: Go for a cruise on the lake. Visit Noetzi. Go for a walk on Tessin Island and leisure Island.

It's beautiful. A lot of everything to do in the area for families and travelers. Great beaches and natural wonders. Shopping and great restaurants.

I saw Knysna for the first time and I love it.

Knysna is overrated, too 'yuppy' and overpopulated!

Just driving around in this beautiful area was an absolute delight and completely relaxing. The atmosphere is laid back and easy going and we totally fell in love with Knysna!

The main road was very busy but the shops are good. We played golf at Simola, where we received 10 Star service. It is the best golf course we have been to in South Africa.

The Garden Route is an incredible place, and Knysna is in the centre of all the beauty. Everything you need is there! Amazing forests, white sandy beaches, stunning food and an estuary steeped in history!

Apart from the unpredictable weather Knysna is a beautiful place. Has no beach but you don't mind because there's a lot of things to do and places to see, especially the nature reserves.
